are we to assume the red motor is going to replace the black motor in a commodore?

Its not going to meet epa requirements for that year of commodore with a red motor....and it depends on how old the red motor is(they went from 64 to 80) on to what modifications you need to do to that if you are going to make it compliant.
If you dont care about any of that, then obvious things to check are the sump shapes, as they are not all the same.......and not sure that manifolds can be interchanged due to the black motor 12 port head or if they can then it then the red motor may not work terribly well with the 12 port manifolds, definitely worth sussing out the go here. There may also be issued with crank sensors etc depending on fuel system etc.

Yeah, just get another black 202. Is it a VK?

If its an earlier model with a VK motor, thats different, but if its a VK with the Black motor, you'd really need to use a black motor.

yeh looking at buying a vk off vkcruiser on this forum and he sed the head might be gone or around 1000 bucks to fix the engine thats in it so im thinking itll be cheaper and easier to just get a new engine

as said it has to be replaced with a VK engine.
It will be cheaper to get a new engine if its a grands worth of work, but I fail to see whats costing a grand unless your paying a mechanic to do some extensive work.

EFI is possibe, pretty much the heads are the same as the Black carb models, though I know someone is going to argue this, but before you both, PROVE IT.
You will need to run a fuel return line, and tap into your tank or gran an EFI one. Aswell as all the EFI gear from the manifold up.
