    Default P Plate Mods

    Hi all,

I'm just after a little bit more clarification on what I can and can't do as a P Plater in QLD.

I'm not asking what mods are legal for a P Plater as such, but what performance modifications DO NOT require a mod plate to be included? My interpretation of the QLD Transport-provided documents is that anything can be done as long as 1) it doesn't exceed 200kW, 2) its not forced induction, 3) its not over 6 cylinders, and 4) it doesn't require a mod plate.

This being the case, would anybody be able to give me some suggestions as to what I could do? What sort of performance mods have you had done that have not needed a mod plate?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. That's how I read the QLD Transport stuff too, I'm wondering about other minor changes though. For example, very minor stuff like Panel filters surely wouldn't need a mod plate.. What other small changes could be made?

your lucky, in N.S.W it states "No performance enhancing modifications" in theory that could include a new oil filter.....

    But yeah id suggest:
    CAI
    KN Filter
    Extractors
    Exhaust
    Foamy Tune
    New plugs and leads

Thanks man, I'll look into getting all that done I'll have to find out what exhaust is on the car at the moment, it's not standard but I don't know what has been done to it. He has already done a K&N panel filter though.

I'll try to find out how much It'll cost me to get extractors, CAI and a tune done to it.

CAI - about 60 bucks from holden, ask for a "VS Supercharged Cold Air Intake"
Tune - Look for "nicefrog" on ebay, $50 for a tune if you send him your memcal, $100 if you buy a memcal off him.
Extractors will be the pricey bit.
Exhaust will probably set you back 320-400 depending on place for a lukey

Yeah, do you think the difference in performance from CAI, extractors + tune would be worth the ~$750? And any idea on what sort of fuel economy difference I could expect, just a rough guesstimate? Assuming same driving habits.

i noticed a difference with CAI, but i dont have a foamy tune or good extractors..

But CAI has done better for fuel consumption, and a bit for top end power
