I have a 6hdd 4l60e in my commy..
say if i hold it in the one gear crusing along let off the gas then give it a bit of stick i can hear a slight clunk as soon as i give the car a bit of throttle, just wondering if this is usual? car has developed a noticeable thump between up + downshift between 2-3rd especially once the car has built up a bit of temp but is fine when stone cold, any thoughts guys?
have posted this somewhere else but not with much luck
Just a guess, but have you looked at any play in the prop shaft universal joints.
Going from a trailing throttle to power will cause a clunk as all the movements are taken up in one go.
For what it is worth.
i replaced a uni joint in my vl years back, and then i replaced all the joints and had driveshaft balanced. car ran like new not a single driveline noise again
before i would get about 1/3 turn movement, after the repair/rebuild, i had almost nil movement.
farlig, freshen up as in rebuild or service? because i aint doing no rebuild..other thing what reasons would cause a 'thump' on up/downshift between 2-3rd..my thoughts are it would be a internal gearbox problem as it only happens on the one gearchange, any thought? many people have said give the tranny a service and it should go away
