Hi can you add plastic to a vy senator genuine bumper to fit a vz?
My issue is I rushed into buying a vy Senator bumper for my vz and forgot to check lights were the same which HELLO are not. I love the bumper but there is a 3cm gap either side of grille and the headlights. I can change the headlights but this will mean i need to do the side fenders aswell which is gonna cost a arm and a leg. So basically I want to know can you add a 3cm strip where the gap is by plastic welding?
I feel like a real dumb ass now but want to keep it without doing the "change everything option" to make it fit.
Any ideas? ? ? ?
"MEAN WAKA MEAN"
If you were handy, or knew someone who was handy with fibreglass you could do it yourself, wont be perfect but it will work. On the other hand you could always ring around panel beaters etc see if hey would be able to do something like that for you.
It really depends what you use. Idealy you would want to use some sort of plastic similar to the bumper and like you said plastic weld it, i dont think fibreglass would be the the best way to do it, i rekon it could come out looking tacky.
Im not familar with the VY/Z bumpers, will the added plastic be holding any weight at all? If its merely there for cosmetic purposes then it should be farily simple as you dont have to worry so much about strength.
you will need to modify where it meets the bonnet as well, due the vz's have the two big lines down the bonnet.
one thing you can do, get a cheap damaged vz exec bumper, cut the plastic around the headlights,on the exec bar, to fill the gap you have, bolt up the vy bar, then trim the vz plastic till itfits nicely,
then get a plastic welder to put it all together. take it to a panel shop for any imperfections to be fixed and sprayed
hope that makes sense![]()
Yeah dont do that. Nafeens idea seems pretty good.
