Ok i'm about to get new tyres for my VL (235/40/17) and i want to know what tyres would you guys/girls reconmend and what sort of milage have u gotten from them if you could recomend reasonable tire for under $180 would be good . Has anyone tried NITROGEN INFLATION and is it worth the extra cost . . . ?
Cheers maxpower
Wow. You can get 17"s for under $180 now? I've got to get me a streeter again lol.
Oh, don't worry about the nitrogen, either.
i will suggest doing a search for this as it has been covered many times. Goto the search function then under the field where u type your keywords change the option box to "search titles only" then type tyre choice types etc etc. this will narrow the threads you find

I've got Maxxis MAZ1 245/35 R20 on mine and they seem to be a pretty decent tyre that don't cost too much. Little road noise, good handling in the wet and dry. Pretty good all round tyre and they are fairly cheap too which is always good. I've done about 18,000kms on them and still have a decent amount of tread on them. They will probably last 35,000-40,000 kms in total. Not sure how much they will be for 17's but would say they would be under $180. Best prices i've found are at Bob Jane's.
I've also heard Nankang NSII's are a pretty decent cheap tyre. But have never had these myself personally so I can't confirm that.
geez theres soem cheap tyres out there hey
today i priced some michelllin 235/40/18's and i nearly fell over when i heard the price....$785 a corner.
i got some 17x235 for my vt for $119 each fitted. grip really well compared to my $250 ones i had on there before

Don't waste your money paying to have your tyres inflated with Helium. You can get about 75% proportion just by using air....
Air Composition
The sea-level composition of air (in percent by volume at the temperature of 15°C and the pressure of 101325 Pa) is given below.
Name Symbol Percent by Volume
Nitrogen N2 78.084 %
Oxygen O2 20.9476 %
Argon Ar 0.934 %
Carbon Dioxide CO2 0.0314 %
Neon Ne 0.001818 %
Methane CH4 0.0002 %
Helium He 0.000524 %
Krypton Kr 0.000114 %
Hydrogen H2 0.00005 %
Xenon Xe 0.0000087 %

not realy concerned about road noise as its only a work car ,just as long as i can get more than 30,000 km out of them and they grip ok in the wet weather i'l happy.
The VL and VZ both have 17 inch wheels but i wasn't sure as what i would expect to pay for tires becouse the VZ stil has the original tires on from when i bought it and the same goes for the wheels on my VL so yeah Sorry for sounding like a complete noob
Id suggest expanding ur budget and putting at least a decent set of tyres on try aim 4 around the 220-250 mark 4 cheap tyres anything less r pretty much.... well its ur life not mine lol
dunno wat heliums got 2 do with this lol but dont bother with nitrogen they r better suited wen ur in much higher temp conditions (35-40+ degrees) that r all year round. the only advanage that u can get from these is that u dont need 2 check ur tyres pressures really at all altho id still recomend checking them every few months.

yeah i only live 5 km from work but some of the roads where i live are pretty crap thats why i don't drive my VZ much at the moment.
Well today i got a set of maxis tyres from Bob jane for 159 each fitted + $40 for a wheel alignment and the car feels way better to drive. I appreciate your input guys thanks heaps

.
I got some hankook silica 205/65/15" tyres and they grip better than any other tyres ive ever had i reckon. Theyre top of the line, and the silicone seems to be the trick.
I'd recommend them in 17", should get them under $170 a corner easy,
oh just see u got some, too late!
