Hey guys,
Just wondering if someone could help me out on what the value of a 96 vs 355 stroker would be?
Vehicle is overall in good condition - interior nice and neat, body no scratches or ding`s.
18" mags with plenty of rubber.
Sounds sweet and drives well.
The only things not stock are the motor (obviously), exhaust, wheels and sound system.
I`m in a position to pick it up at a steal, and would be good to know what the accepted value for this vehicle is.
Thanx
well i almost picked up a vp ss 355 w/TTB in fair condition for $8000.... hope that helps![]()
Depends. Do you already have a 5 litre in your VS? Wheels and sound system doesn't make any difference to a 5.7 litre engine mate
Depends, if you have a 5 litre in your car already, i have seen people pay up to $10,000 for stroker kits. That's with DECENT cranks etc etc etc. Then there is labour. I'd be going a C.O.M.E racing stroker kit for quality, but there are a few people on this forum who run 5.7 litre engines (stroked 304 blocks) who would be able to help you out further in pricing etc.
Depending on how desperate the seller is, how long hes been trying to sell. I would say a reasonable price would be around the 9-10 grand mark. What badge is the car? Calais? SS?

Thanx for the feed back guys.
To clarify the car is a VS 5.0 lt (was a 304) that has been stroked already. Not a SS or Calais.
I`m picking the car up dead cheap and want to know for my own info what the car`s value is.
Reaper,
Was told the rods used were the original`s, as whoever built the stroker stated that the rods used in these motors were the goods.
You might be able to clarify if what he stated is true.
Need to get back on the crank and pistons used.
The crank is the main concern. Everybody has an opinion however most will agree that some of the stuff out there can be best described as junk. The stock rods aren't bad as long as you don't go mental.
Reaper
Would defenitely be worth more if he had receipts for work done and parts used. I could rebuild a stock 304 and say it was a stroker and you wouldnt know until you ripped the sump off.
As reaper said stock rods are good for a mild street stroker, crank is another issue. Depending on overall condition it can be worth anything from 5-10 grand

Hey,
The info I have is that a ACL race series kit was used for the stroker.
Pistons are flat top, the crank is steel, cam is 289.
Does this look to be a reasonable kit/brand to have used for the stroker.
Appreciate any feed back or comments.
Holden crank journal, it will either be Harrop or COME most likely (which are cast). Sounds like factory holden stroker spec. Stock rods are fine, pretty strong actually, revs is what kills them, they will take 700hp all day.
As for price, 5k is a good price, 3-4k is considered a steal.
Thanx for the feed back SilverVH. Sounds in line with the builders comments about the rods.
Crank has already been verified as steel. But have`nt received info on what brand yet.
