Delphi Discovers Counterfeit Compressors Sold in Australian Automotive Aftermarket.

Delphi has discovered a number of counterfeit Delphi V5 compressors being sold in Australia. All of these counterfeit compressors bore the Delphi trade mark and also bore part numbers Delphi has not used for many years. One such part number appearing on the counterfeit part is 1135257. These counterfeit compressors were supplied into Australia outside of Delphi's ordinary distribution channels Delphi Australian subsidiary Delphi Automotive System Australia Ltd.

Counterfeit parts may pose certain risks. They are produced with one thing in mind, to allow their producer to make a quick profit without any regard to the consequences if they fail. Counterfeit parts have no connection with Delphi, are of inferior quality, are not covered by Delphi warranties and customers have no recourse against Delphi if they are defective, fail or result in damage or injury. The Delphi trade marks are registered for the word Delphi (both alone and with a distinctive device), in relation to a wide range of products including motor vehicle parts and accessories, such as compressors and other parts.

To avoid buying counterfeit parts, Australian customers should only buy Delphi parts from Delphi's Australian subsidiary Delphi Automotive Systems Australia Ltd or from authorized Delphi distributors. To avoid purchasing counterfeit Delphi products, Australian customers wishing to purchase Delphi parts should check all of the following: (i) that the parts bear current Delphi part numbers, and (ii) that the distributor is able to confirm that the parts have come from Delphi in Australia.

If customers have any concerns that parts are counterfeit, regardless of where they obtained the parts or if customers wish to verify what the current Delphi part numbers are, they should contact Shane Curley at Delphi Automotive Systems Australia Ltd at [03] 9239 2177, fax: [03] 9558 7113 or email [email protected].
