    Default Spare tyre?

Hey guys/girls, well I know a lot of you have non-standard wheels, (IE. 17", 18", etc etc) on cars that are originally 15" or similar.

But just wondering, if you get a flat tyre what do you use as a replacement?

My 19" tyres + tread are exactly the same as my 15" + tread, would it be illegal to drive it?

(No I do not have a flat tyre of any sort, but just asking out of curiosity)

I have a similar question I may as well ask.

Will a vehicle pass a roady with two stockies with perfect tread on one end of the vheicle, and mag wheels on the other end?

Like say, 12 slotters on the front, stockies on the back. Or vice versa.

By law they can pass. Fronts have to be a pair, and the rears a pair, but they can be different from front to rear.

Not sure how they'd go with giving you a rwc with stockies on tho.

For the record, i have 2 18s as my spares.

As long as they are the same size...I do know that if you have different wheels sized on back & front a lot of places wont pass you, I had 14 front (or back, can't remember) and 15 on the other end and they said I wasn't allowed, because I had a 15" spare they said I either needed 2 tyres or same all round

But basically, once you get your roady, go back to what you want...As it not illegal, they SELL wheels in sets like that

Ah right, yeah I was aware that once its on the road, you can do whateva you like, but I need to get a roadworthy first.

    Basically, it's like this.

My one tonner, being a one tonner has stock wheels, which look like the normal stock wheels, except they are stronger.

As it sits, (how I bought it) it has two original wheels on the front with new *185* tyres. One original wheel on the back with a 195* but tyre is stuffed anyhow.
And on the other side is a commodore ceptor. 205 I think - so that is no good to me at all.
And then on the tray, I have the other original wheel, with a stuffed tyre.
So that makes 4 one tonner wheels. And two need new tyres.

I have a set of twelve slotters. Only two have roadworthy tyres.

I have one 185 wheel and tyre, but only one, i need two.
I have one 195 (i think) wheel and tyre, but I'll need two.

    LOL, dammit.

I'd swap with my dad's one tonner, but his tyres need replacing too. HAHA.

    Maybe I'll ask the mechanic.

EDIT: just thought - I also have a Black stock wheel, maybe I could use the two 195s, and then use the 185 for the spare.

    So that means,

One-tonne wheels (look stock) on the front with 185s.
Stock wheels on the back with *195s (i think) One is black.
One tonne wheel with 185 as spare.

    4 1 tonne - my ute
    2 spares.
4 twelve slotters (off a statesman)
4 stock wheels (on a statesman)

That does sound better, where abouts do you live? I have 4 stockies with full tread you can borrow for a rw if they don't allow different for front/rear

They make standard style space savers. 4in wide rims with the same face as standard HSV wheels, but there speed limited.

Personally i'd just fine more of the same wheel you already have, then add some lights to it

my wheels to buy more would be at least 300-500 each (and thats without tread)....don't really have that money

As for the lights...current wheels don't have light on them, did think about it, bt the weight of the wheel would be off

You can get the flashy valve caps tho.....

Some people aren't as pedantic as me. I don't care what they cost, they just have to be the same (in the end i swapped a blown T5 for my spare grange wheel, bargain i thought)

if you have an lsd, dont ever drive around with just one stockie on the back. good way to **** it. but yeah, generally just better to keep the same style tyre/rim on each axle. i think its legal to have different sizes, as long as the same type are on the axle, and the bigger wheels/wider tyres are on the back
