i have a vp v6 and i was wondering wat diff gears would be suitable for it ive heard 4.11s are just too crazy so yer what the next best thing after 4.11s
what do you want them for ? drag racing or highway cruising ? the 3.08 are good for highway, 4.11 for drags, or something in between for street cruisin
3.9 Is what I have in my car, and it is auto.
3.9 is good for more of a racey type of person, otherwise, 3.45 is nice.
Seriously, how much freeway driving do you do? And how much city/suburban?
If auto go for 3.7's or 3.9's....
If manual gor for 3.45's or 3.7's.....
To be honest, i wouldn't get anything smaller then them....
I also have 3.9's in a vn auto... LOVE THEM! not bad on the freeway and good for taking off(and other activities)
I'd personally lean to 3.9s.
Because they really give you better acceleration, and still get a decent speed on them.
On my car, in top gear, I'd be sitting on 2,800 to keep 120Km/h.
Hey Guys using this thread im also after some suggestions on diff gears? im thinkin mayb 3.45's since i do a fair bit of driving above 100kms but do the city drive aswell.
I got a couple prices 1 from WA diffs and Perfect Transmisions that also do diffs but not sure on the prices if they r good or over priced?
WA Diffs: (new)
standard 3.08 rebuild $1050
LSD 3.08 $1650
LSD 3.45 $1850
LSD 3.7 & 3.9 $1950
Perfect Transmisions: (second hand)
rebuild + LSD centre + LSD cones + any ratio
$1270
should i steer clear from 2nd hand???

not sure mate he does all my race cars diffs there all 9 inch
I called WA diffs last week. 3.7's + new lsd cones/centre + bearings etc = 1550... still think thats a shitload of money to pay but whats the average?
WA diffs will try take all your money and they never have one price they just make it up as they go along
Unless your changing the engine leave the 3.08s in it. There's very little to almost no gain in acceleration changing them in a stock 304. Better off putting a manual in it with that money if you want to go faster on gear technoligy. If you plan on killing off some low/mid range torque with a cam swap that's when you want gears

I'd also like to ask a question -
I beleive 3.08s were the standard in HZs?
What effect would 3.55 gears have in a HZ Tonner with 5.0 and t400?
Coz my dads one originally had 3.55s but a dodgy mechanic took them out and swapped for 3.08s.
