But yeah, depending on what you want it for, take out everything between the firewall and tail lights (except for dash and drivers seat)

Be smart, there are heaps of tricks, the net is your friend

Alloy is going to help heaps, things like lose your tank and get a compact alloy/foam filled fuel cell, take out what ever luxuries you dont need, carpet and plastics, electrics and added systems you wont use, like cruise and whatever

But it depends on what your doing really

The aircon system is a good 100 kilos.

Judging from some of your recent threads i would leave the car alone and just learn the basics first before you go digging behind the firewall and start removing things.

An easy one to do (which doesnt require digging into the engine bay), which will save you almost 50 kilo is remove all the insulation and sound proofing. Theres tons of it under the carpet and in the boot.

What do you want from your car? So far all i can tell is you want it to chirp into second gear.

You don't happen to have a large Albanian woman under your bonnet turning the AC compressor, do you?

IF not, I'd suggest something more realistic, perhaps along the lines of 40kg if you include digging around under the dashboard for the evaporator.

hehe yeah, It's about 30-40kgs, 40 on the 5 litre. The deadner and rubber mats in total is 30-40. So there's a hopefull 80kgs but probably less, that's still a fairly serious amount allready.

The passenger front seat is very heavy, rear not so much. Auto gearbox's are heavy, manuals are not, IRS shells are 20-40kgs (who knows really:P but they more than make up for it in traction) more than solid axel shells. Chinese panels are lighter than Holden ones. After all that easy stuff you a pretty much down to making what is there as small and light as possible. Morton and I have talked on this extensivly but you'll have to figure out the finer details yourself. Because otherwise iq points wouldn't count for extra go fast and they really should

Well for a start you could take out all those Macdonalds wrappers, leave the bong at home and give it a vacume

Seriously though, as mentioned, all your A/C sh*t can come out, carpets, sound deadening, roof lining, seats you dont need, spare wheel & tools out of the boot (mind you though, sometimes this can decrease traction), also as mentioned, drop the tank and put a little 5 gallon cell in, manualise the steering (VL's had optional armstrong steering, i think the rack will go into VP)....now this is presuming you are going to drag it and keep it on the road. If you were going to de register it, there is a LOT more to do and it involves grinders and sabresaws

get the lightest rims you can find, rotating weight equals something like 4x static weight. get front runners.

I agree, not sure about the 4 x static weight, that would depend on how fast it is rotating. But a good set of forged alloy rims (Draglites etc) shave off a lot of weight, they are strong and look pretty wicked, especially if you get them anodized.

Install a radio control module. Depending how much you weigh that could reduce the weight, that way you could remove all the seats...
