bought a spool i have question(different to all the others!)

So, anyway. I bought a spool to suit my VN, it has a silver, like ring, around both sides of the spool, i think they call it a groove? last time i fitted a spool was to my ford ED, and it didn't have the silver ring(if you like.) but it was 28 spline, same as my vn...

any ideas whats the go ?

Could just be a machined shoulder on the spool.

hurry up and install it, i cant see a problem with it from here, and besides..... Its a clunk of metal you cant really stuff it up
