After so much searching I got more than I bargained for. I was first after a Calais and then changed my mind to Statesman after a few test drives... today I bought a Caprice [from a private seller].
I haven't got the car yet but will pay the guy next week. The seller is a old gentleman. He drove the car only 55,000km since he bought it brand new. Its a WK 2003 V8.
The car is in showroom condition inside and out... all services done on time... new tyres and 11 months rego.
Pretty much looks like the one in this pic, same colour and all:

Sorry ppl forgot to mention the price. I got it a fraction of the new price, the new price was over $74,000 AUD. The seller was the first owner of the car. I got it for $25,000 and the dealers are selling 'em for over $30,000. Service log books show he did all but two services about 1000km before they were due. The others he did on time.
Another one I saw for $26,990 (from a dealer) had lots of interior wear, scratches in the paint, one cigarette burn, smashed rear door speaker and he wouldn't move on the price. Plus it had 75,000km not 55,000km.

Yeh I know, its so sweet. Look at the interior, but the one I got has darker leather with black dash...
Truth is I didn't 'need' the DVD players etc. I was just hunting for a Statesman but this Caprice was just too good a deal to pass up. I've been looking for close to two months and found it hard to even find a Statesman in this cars condition, let alone a Caprice.

Are the mirrors usually fully painted? I thought only the top section of the mirror housing is painted, and the rest black?

Mate, your car looks awesome!!! I do love the cream too, yet beggars like me cant be choosers. Also I don't live in Vic nor did I have over $30k.
I also would have loved a sunroof but instead its got the factory GPS... so I guess it evened itself out.
Only annoyance is the factory GPS is not touch screen and you get a silly lookin' remote attached to the console... not the nicest setup.
I guess I'll just have to live with it LOL![]()

Car looks in good nick by the phone photos as well. Enjoy the purchase and look after her!![]()
put some 20s then your in busness lol nice
Na, I'm gonna keep her standard.
BTW I went to a good mechanic today and he looked at my steering shakes at 100km and says its looks a like a small issue. Its probably because the car was hardly ever driven by the previous owner that the tyres have flat spots in them from sitting stationary too long.
He is gonna have a look at it on the 10th of Jan as he is book until then.
