I'm going to convert my car to LPG... I spoke to the local IMPCO supplier in WA but the guy was not the best to talk to. He quoted me on a non-liquid injection LPG system for my car for $3300. I asked him about the liquid injection system and he said it costs $5000.
I then asked him which was better for my car... he then told me 'I dont recommend anything, its what you want to get'. I asked him the benefits of going liquid and he just said 'no backfiring'. That it, he wouldn't way anything else.
What do you guys recommend for a WK 2003 V8 car when it comes to LPG? I've been quoted by a few people from $3300 all the way up to $5000. Is an IMPCO system the only way to go?
It doesn't help when the mechanics on the phone say 'we dont recommend anything'![]()
Mate who is the local impco supplier in WA? Whats there number?
and surely that cant be 3300 for an Injected System?
I have just had my done ( vapour into induction prior to throttle body ) for just under $3500 - and in the process have found that everyone has an opinion, but no one is prepared to commit themselves. It seems to be the way of doing business these days - you have to get all the opinions you can AND THEN commit yourself - if you get it wrong - tough biccies.
To those not from WA - our local State government throws in $1,000 for a conversion, plus the Federal $2000 - so suddenly the minimum conversion cost is around $3500, of which you get $3000 back.
Hardly, if they damage other things doing the job then they haven't done it properly, unless of course you agreed for the cheapest possible job where they specified no time would be given to protecting the surfaces they were working around, leaving crap in your car etc. Of course it takes longer to mask things up, have two people carefully lift something so it doesnt scrape the duco etc, This seems to goes hand in hand with every trade, whether its the plumber who wrecks the carpet by treading some gook through on his way to your bathroom, or the carpet cleaner who leaves their van in the drive and drops oil all over it! Dont let them get away with it!
Its gonna be tough deciding what system I need. After talking to the local IMPCO installer (Imperial AutoGas) I get the feeling they are the 'cover my ass' type of people. The one in Malaga that 744driver mentioned seams to be the type who dont give a darn about customer vehicles and scratches the them... I wouldn't be happy going there either.
I'm on holidays in Melbourne at the moment [flying home tomorrow]. I saw a lot of caprices in LPG but they drove past so couldnt see if they were V8 or V6. I saw one parked but it was a V6. I really wanna talk to one of them who has a V8 to see what system they are using.
