ZOMG, Yes it was on christmas eve.

I was driving through pinjarra here in wa, just idleing through town, kids in the back etc heading to the gf's family. then i see a cop car up ahead.

i didnt care as i usually dont worry but then they turned around to follow me.

so i pull over and they are like, hey, pop the bonnet.

so i did, then to my suprise, you apparently need permits for extractors and cold air intake. then they looked at my tint and yeah it was illigal, you can see out fine, but you cant see in, it was 5% tint so i got done for that also.

ALSO, i have aftermarket side mirrors so they need to be replaced. like seriously, on ****ing CHRISTMAS EVE.

Also these smart ass ****s, i was like "this is bull****", the cop then replied, "my name isnt bull****"

i was like wtf?

I used to like cops, but now, **** them. Seriously. No i cant ****ing enjoy my holidays, or get a ****ing house for that matter because i need to return my car back to stock before the 4th of jan.

ps before any of you say "well you shouldn't have done that to the car". the car was bought for me like that as a gift.

yea but its the fact that he now has to take up his own time to take the car over the pits. Fair enough they didnt like his tint, give him a warning and make a note of it, so that next time he is pulled over the cops will know that he has been warned before. The things they picked him up for shouldnt warrant him having to go and pay money to take his car over the pits. They are hardly going to be dangerous to somebody else if he has an accident. I think thats pretty rough, but some cops are just on power trips, and its happened to me before, but unfortunately theres nothing you can do about it.

Before coming on the forum to complain, understand that every state has different rules and regulations. I suggest you get onto you local RTA (or state equivalent) and find out what is, and is not allowed to be modified on your car. Then if you still feel hard done by then come onto the forum and complain.

Cops out here think the CAI is a stock item usually, spraying the extractors black works for my mates and ebay will have 4 stock windows off a wrecked car for $30.

After looking at his photo, I wonder how many members of the forum drive cars that look very much like his, and wouldn't be p****ed off if they were booked for such trivial issues too, unless they did something to bring the notice of the cops in the first place?

I don't have a clue about WA regs and allowable mods, but the mirrors are illegal? And the extractors? And the CAI?

I can cop the tint being excessive, but it sounds like attitude must have had something to do with the overall issue, because I can't imagine a decent cop sticking it up you for the mirrors, pipes or CAI.

Something in the manner of driving (or the time of night) must have drawn their attention in the first place. Swearing at them wouldn't help.

Well i made sure to smart mouth them AFTER they handed me the ticket, before then i wasnt really saying anything.

I wasnt bringing attention to myself, i was in traffic doing about 10 under, idling though town. I had 2 kids in the back so as if i would be doing any hooning etc.

And my car is well below the legal limit for how loud a car is supposed to be. I made sure of that when i had the exhaust put on. If you put your foot down then its louder. But its just a single exhaust still.

I have been picked up heaps of times in the past year with no problems at all. Mostly just random breath tests. But since it was christmas eve and i had to do about 400k of driving after that is what really annoys me.

Why didn't the first cops that ever picked me up care? or the 2nd time, or the 3/4/5/6/7/8/9 10th etc.

Mate I have a vs statesman with the same mirrors ,extractors and Factory cai never had any promblems, Is your car registered in WA OR another state? I cant make out the rego
It only has to comply with the state its registered in, check your state rego laws if the cop are just being pricks ,put a complaint in to there sargeant about there conduct and also the CMC ,All complaints go on there record founded or not and also they will be put under the spotlight with mountians of paper work ,and they will think twice about being wankers again ,if your car is illegal wear it but if there conduct was inapropiate complain ,I have got a few Police officers repremaned in the past for misconduct one was even removed from traffic duties ,but dont judge all of them from these idiots I also know a lot of nice coppers

In Vic my understanding is that all extractors must still comply with emissions standards, the CAI as well, I have both of these mods, super six CAI and pacies on my V6 plus a slightly louder then stock Lukey stock size exhaust with a twin dumper chrome tip.

The car is sitting on super lows and has a nice shiny new paint job, on christmas eve I had an unmarked police car (Yes I spotted them) pull out from the side of the road and follow me for about 5 kays, they then turned around and went back, the other week I was pulled over,a quick bretho and I was on my way, he even said "Have a wonderful morning"

Not all cops are bad, do you do any hooning when you are on your own? maybe you have had a few reports?

In either case good lcuk with getting it cleared up, it is a bit rough but in some ways well founded I.E the tint, that law is so other vehicles can see through you at intersections, never mind the 4wd's and busses that also block your view :P

When i first got my license i would drive it around pretty quick, and take off fast etc. But not any more.

I had a complaint about my car, Apparently i did a massive burnout on some street.... i was never on.

My car was out once that weekend to get tea, I had brand new tyres and brakes. I even said to the cop to come out to my house and inspect my car, if he had any evidence, where did the complaint come from etc, and he started going on about how "i will get you to come down to the station for a video interview if you keep talking to me like this".

I told my friends dad who is a senior sergeant to have a chat to him about how he conducted himself and how he had absolutely no evidence to support his claim.

Changing the exhaust will alter emissions, usually beyond the legal requirements, so yes headers are 95% of the time illegal. Even the CAI will alter emissions and push the car past standard emission regulations.

Gee, I can only imagine what your attitude was like towards the police.

Not sure why getting a defect would alter you getting a house, I mean, they are all minor defects, hardly a financial crisis if you can afford a house.
