Just a quick question regarding brakes:
Since I bought my VS, after about 10 mins of city driving with medium braking the brakes make an unholy creaking sound as you come to a stop. There is no shuddering associated with it (but it only happens at very low speed, so it is hard to tell), and once you if you don't use them for a while (say after getting on the highway for 10 mins) you don't hear the sound when braking.
It doesn't appear to affect braking performance, but I would like to know what it is. Any ideas?
not sure what you mean by creaking, can you explain it a bit better
possibly just a cheap set of pads that don't like the heat. I had similar issues with cheap pads before. Bit like a groaning sound ? gets real bad when coming down windy mountains too.
I'd suggest fitting some decent Bendix or QFM pads, greasing the slides, and i reckon you'll be sweet.
Yes a groaning sound is a better description. And yep coming down the thunderbolts way near Gloucester I get the same thing!
I'll fit some better quality pads, there just about due anyway - thanks greenac
and sorry wildss for the poor description.
