hey guys.
just wanting to know with 4.11's being for take off and 3.9's for street and lower for say highway driving, what would the 100km rpm's be at for these? say for a 5l vn
just to compare with the standard 3.08's.
does anyone know?

For a standard auto box with an overdrive ratio of 0.70:1 you should be looking at 2500rpm at 100kph with 4.11s, as compared to 2400rpm for 3.89:1 final drive gears![]()

thanks, so would you assume if you hada car with high hp 400+ then lower gears would be more suited as even tho take off isnt as quick you will reach higher speeds?
Depends on how you're making that 400+ horsepower
If it's a turbocharged car, then yes, I'd be looking at lower ratio gears, something in the 2.xx range, to keep me in boost for longerBut if it was a 383 stroker track car mated up to a bulletproof 3-speed auto, I might want higher ratio gears
Also depends if you're driving Auto or Manual. With a T5, there's no way I'd want 4.11s - you'd just be changing gears too often.

+ it doesn't take much of an engine to max out 3rd gear over the 1/4 mile with 4.11s

Which means on a 5sp you'll be topping out 4th, and heading into 5th ^_^ haha

mine: 355 stroker + 4spd + 4.1's = 24-2500 rpm
mate: 383 stroker + 3spd + 4.1's = 3100+ rpm
na, mate. that is with the 5speed. to many revs to stay in 3rd, yet changing to 4th looses you drive for like 1 second (4th tops out at about 180km/h). thats why i haven't cracked 14's yet (that and a noisy bearing in the box). i'm 100% certain with the decent treads i have now i can get into the 14's with my current setup and tune on what is still a stock engine with bolt on's only
