Wow, that's a lot of sanding if you're using paper It would have to be PERFECT too. Because a smooth gloss finish is going to show every single imperfection in the sunlight

    quick and easy way

    sander
    polyester
    primer
    then block it
    and paint

polyester will fill all the dimples and will make it straight (depending on your blocking skills)

you will have to take the whole dash out

polyester is bassicaly spray bog, one coat of polyester is ruffly 3-4 coats of primer
most paint supply shops should be able to get you it,
i get it through the paint sale reps who supply for my work (debeer - bodyshop)

3 coats of polyester should be plenty
    then blocking back,

    then prime with normal primer
    block again

    and paint

blocking is how you sand it,
not sanding with a sander or you hand but a block which has a near tru flat surface, so when you sand it will be straight and you wont follow into any dents, but more so block them out if there not to big

    southy as for price,
how long is a piece of string?

comes down to how much panels, materials brands labour time etc
