    Default Hsv W427

Does anybody else here absolutely drool over the HSV W427. I heard recently that they decreased the amount they are making of this model from 427 to 200. 7.0L V8 - It has the SL7 engine (corvette). The apparent price is between $140,000-$170,000....anybody getting one? haha. It looks so bad ass

Nope looks too similar to the clubsports and its over priced for what is essentially a driveline upgrade. Id just buy a regular clubby and spend a little more on mods and beat this

Buying a car like this isn't really buying the car as such. It's buying the name that comes with it. Like buying a BMW or Merc. They aren't super great nor worth their price but have a good name.

I reckon the W427 looks the goods though

What would you define as super great then? Not a Holden I hope.

Some of the higher bmw's are good but I was mainly referring to the standard 3 series types. I know, not in the same league blah blah but this car for example:
Brand New BMW 320i Cars In Stock - carsales.com.au
is just a pretty basic bmw yet still costs close to $60k.

You can get cars made from other manufacturers that have close to or just as many features as the bmw for a lower price.

Why would you spend so much money on this dressed up VE exec when you can buy the state of the art R35 GTR that slaughters it in every possible aspect for the same price?

    Because Skyline's aren't HSV's.

Same can be said for the R35. The W427 looks no different to any other VE, looks fat, heavy, bulky. If it were made to perform against other cars in that price range, sure it would be worth it, but at the end of the day, it really is nothing special. I also highly doubt it will have much worth in the future, it has zero race pedigree.

Have you got a source on the drop in builds?

The first years productions is already all sold (which was months ago) so i would think the remainder wouldn't be far off it.

It’s a shame we will never really see them on the roads or being driven to their limits as most of the people buying them are collectors and just want to own history.

You can’t really compare the W427 to a skyline if your talking about price. The price is so high because of the limited number made not just because it has a 7liter 500hp engine. It’s a collectors item and a skyline is just another import that you see everywhere.

Alight then mate that’s your opinion and your entitled to it, although referring to that car as plastic crap was hurtful lol. But think of it this way in 20years time that r35 skyline will be worth jack and the w427 will be a collectors item. If you want to **** your hard earned cash on a car that goes fast them buy the r35 if you want to own a piece of Australian history buy the “plastic crap” (your words) to some people its worth something.

agreed. as for the skylines, look at the prices of even an R32 GTR. they hold their value well

Why not? They are both sports cars, both in the same price bracket? So yes they can be compared. I am not seeing though how it is a collectors item? It has no track pedigree, it is just a GTS with a bigger engine, brakes and modded suspension.

A piece of Australian history? If i wanted history id buy a race proven XU1 or SLR even a XY GTHO(as my father in law has) not some plastic junk with no proven performance on a race track. As for the price of the R35, check the prices of older TRUE R32's etc, worth a heck of a lot more than the common HSV.

W427's are shit. Ugly and will have no future collector value. Too much plastic on them anyway.

If i had $170,000, i'd be buying a Ferrari or a bloody Lambo. Or a Ford GT Phase 3 *drools*.

    Something fast AND decent.

the only HSV of the time that the r32 gtr can compare against is a group A. even the group A SS is a much more unique car compared to a standard VN, when comparing the W427 to a standard VE

The truth of the matter is if you can afford any of these without being in debt for the rest of your life then I think you would be able to afford both of them anyway. Honestly yes I would buy the r35 over the w427 because it is better value and it would pretty much cream anything except that veyron but I can see why the w427 has that price tag.

Well, I do find the price over the top, the car is also overrated. I find the R35 a great machine and would love to own one, but I still stand by what I said, A skyline Isn't a HSV. They are two totally different cars, and that's why I love HSV's they don't try to be a Skyline. They are unique in their own way.
