I have a 93 VP and the last few days it sounded like it was struggling to start up. I thought that maybe the battery was just dying as it only had a cheap one in there. I got the alternator tested and it was fine, so I purchased a 450 cca battery for $140. It drove home perfectly after that. The next day I tried to start it, it struggled then stopped. I cranked it again, and all I can hear is a clicking noise when I try to start it.

I had a mechanic over, and all he did was bash the starter motor with a screwdriver whilst I cranked it. This seemed to get something happening, however no ignition. It sounds like I will have to either get a new starter motor, or get it repaired. Does anybody know how much a new starter motor generally costs, or how much repairs are? Also if anybody thinks it could be some sort of other problem, please let me know.
