If I get an after-market bluetooth kit installed in my car, is it able to play MP3's off my phone via the cars speakers or just make calls etc? I've never used bluetooth in a vehicle. Sorry if the question is obvious, even from someone who works with computers![]()
The units i've had (pioneer) have come with bluetooth audio which allow you to play songs from your phone once the phone is connected to the unit. So the short answer is yes and i'm sure most brands would have the same feature on their decks, not just pioneer.
I wanna keep my factory [caprice/statesman] deck yet possibly intergrate a bluetooth into the sound system. The caprice deck is faily decent and does all I need it to do.
Nokia ones will be able to play mp3's through, but will come through in mono sounding like shit. Parrot do this one Parrot MK6000 - BLUETOOTH® HANDS-FREE KIT WITH AUDIO STREAMING
Which I can recommend, had it in my work car in nz, and it was great, when you buy the unit, you also buy a plug specific to your car (for instance for the focus it meant the existing headunit loom plugged into the carkit lead, then the carkit plugged straight into the back of the headunit), and then you run the mic cable and the carkit control cable to the dash, and that was it, install done. Very tidy, no cutting wires, and the call audio or music streamed comes through your car speakers, so sounded comparable to a cd when listening to music. I looked into it, and for the commodores its the same thing, they do a plug for the commodores so it plugs straight in to factory headunit. Hope this helps!
Any sound that comes from your phone will be played through the bluetooth kit. Bluetooth is just a communication device between the phone and the unit. Even if you are playing a game the sound will come out of the car's speakers if it is set up that way. Depending on the kit though, some have their own speaker, some only use one of the car's speakers, and some use them all by going through the actual stereo.
nokia ones can be put through your commodore spkrs
make sure its wired right and you can play them in ya car
