Hello All,
I am bloody new to this board so forgive me if I ask here a questionyou allready answered in this forum - although I made a search and couldn`t find one - just a thread from a conversition where the image links don`t work.
Ok, I´m from Germany and we drive RHD`s. I searched the web for days now, checked also the co "Ute`s" like Ford, Pontiac, Chevrolet and found RHD Sedans but I am in love with the UTE model and couldn`t find any LHD on the web.
The V8 Ute is soooo damn cheap comparing to the prices what we have to pay for a V8 here and I´m really serious to buy one and get him shipped to here. Not only becouse of the cool price - mainly cuz I really love this car. But I don`t want to access Mc Donald`s backwards etc cuz it`s a LHD.
So the questions:
- do anyone from you folks know where Holden or the other brands wich sells Ute`s under their names offer a LHD Ute somewhere on the globe.
- if not, is there a PROFESSIONAL RHD TO LHD converting company in Aussieland? I mean there are LHD sedans and so parts couldn`t be THE problem
- is it possible to order a LHD from Holden directly?
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your inputs :-)
Cheers

holden will be sending the ute over to the states soon, so that will be lhd
Chev badges are an instant fail
There is other LHD utes.
When i worker there when the VX and VU were in production, there were LHD utes being pumped out. Can't remember where they went, but i think it was a police contract to Saudi or something.
As said, USA will be getting the G8 Ute soon, so you could wait for that!

You might want to try ringing Holden directly...I'd imagine that if you were to pay the right price, they'd be able to custom build you a LHD ute...its not as if they'd have to do anything differently, or order in any custom parts or anything, they'd already have everything they need right there...

I can`t believe that a car manufacturer will do ONE custom Ute cuz it will cost them a fortune but anyways I will send a mail to Holden directly and to a dealer as well.
Saw a couple times in postings that you have professional LHD to RHD and the other way around converting companies. Would be interesting to have a adress if you know any. Like said the Ute is so awesome and cheap that I would be willing to pay mentioned 10K more Aussie bucks for convertion.
Thanks a lot!

Is there anywhere in Germany that specialises in it?
any place that imports cars would know someone who does conversions!

the most germans know about benz, bmw etc. and don`t even know that Opel belongs to GM and that Holden is a sisterbrand.
i also searched the new zealand holden site this morning and the Ute seems to be much cheaper there than in its origin country - maybe due the currency. unbelievable how cheap good cars are in the world. for this money you get here a better shopping car for frustrated housewifes with 4 cylinders and maybe 100 hp :-)
mate there's a place just here in qld that buy's corvette's and hummer's and that from the states and convert them trouble is that the commodore's are already rhd so we have no need to convert them but if you want i will get the number for you![]()

thanks so much Eureka, appreciate it. a very good point to start for me
just one thing dig, wouldnt rego be massive in germany i thought you payed either to emmisions or weight and age
@Eureka - thanks again!!
@Zuicider,
you have to pay here for a imported car (& anything else imported) 10% Tax and 19% VAT (calculated on the price you paid for the car in its origin country) plus costs for shipping/insurance wich is around 2K USD. So prize will raise around 30% but you don`t need to pay the tax from Aussieland cuz the car is leaving the country. So it`s still a very good deal cuz you don`t get anything what is so neat & sick like the Ute here :-) I will end up with a lower prize than the Mini above to make a sample - even including plus costs for LHD conversion.
Emmisons and the litre volume from the engine are the 2 points for the "normal" yearly cartax here - for the 6litre engine it will be around 700 USD per year. and the horsepower and price for the car are the numbers for the insurance here.
