hey fellas i got an exhaust a few weeks ago and ive noticed it doesnt sound anywhere near as good as when i got it just wondering why what changes what happens to the muffler (it has one muffler btw) to make it like that
but its a dramtic change before i would put my foot down it would go ROARRRRRRRRRR 2 weeks later now it goes meow
May be he just bought a sh*++y exhaust system I believe do your homework before you buy anything, because what you pay for is what you get these days.![]()
a few ppl from this site have gone to these guys and are happy with the results so yeah i was just wondering
Would you buy a sound system without listening to it first![]()
really i just wanna know why it isnt as loud anymore like what happens to the muffler in that time not complaing still sounds good but yeah
Who did you exhaust and what brand is it also are you running extractors?
aussie discount mufflers its not really a brand lol just straight through pipe one muffler no extractors
Dont take this the wrong way but so many people have a V6 and want them to sound like a V8 and honestly you can try as hard as you want but it wont happen.
My advice is spend a little more $$$ and ring someone like Difilipo in Melton Victoria and 100% you will like the note even if its a v-6.

I have a 5.7 litre ute and a 6 litre SV8 both with difilipo exhaust systems on them and I actually get asked so many times what exhaust system do you have because they sound so good.
It cost you nothing to talk to them abd honestly you wont be disappointed, forget these no name cheap brands you are throwing money away.
Anyway there my thoughts good luck hope you kill the meow and end up with a roaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr![]()
haha thanks mate i know its not gonna sound like an 8 just wanted a bit when i take offand ill give them a call and find out thanks for the info
its a pleasure![]()
as you drive carbon settles in the pipes making the sound slightly diff. like what has been said before you get what you paid for.
Chev badges are an instant fail
for a decent system i've been quoted around the $600 mark for a single 2.5" cat back sys in mild steel. me personally i would've gone for a custom system so that you know it wont drone and provide some small gains.
Chev badges are an instant fail
So you go in and say "fit this exhaust system, but if I don't like it take it off and keep going until I find one I like?"
Like that ever happens....
Exhausts do settle a bit yes, as mentioned, carbon does build up and it changes the note, also the glass packing in the muffler loosens up and the note changes too. Usually they get louder and less 'raspy'. Maybe there is a problem with yours. Or you are just getting used to it. The change from a stock system to a sports one is pretty dramatic. After a couple of weeks you are probably just used to it so it seems quieter.
Just a quick question..
what brand exhausts are you guys running on your 6's, on my VT, I had some extractors, not sure on the brand, a cheaper set, not pacemaker.. and a redback, single 2.5inch straght through and it sounded wayyy too tinny, like a ricer almost, and some bad drone..
I want to throw an exhaust on the VY, but not if its going to sound like my VT, Is DiFilippo the way to go for 6's aswell?? or a full custom job? where does them?
Cheers fellas...
I've had my exhaust on for a few weeks now - lukey mufflers and resonators. When i left i was warned that the exhaust note would change after a few weeks.
Mine got louder and crackles on the downshifts a bit more though, so i don't know what's up with yours
