A year-long operation targeting trafficking, manufacturing and large-scale distribution of illicit drugs culminated today with police storming 15 properties in South-East Queensland.
Five people, including a 44-year-old Narangba man believed to be a prominent member of the Gold Coast drag-racing fraternity, were arrested.
The man was charged with producing the drug MDMA, growing cannabis and supplying amphetamines.
Police also seized an estimated $6.1 million worth of cash and property, including six high-performance cars and five motorcycles. All the vehicles were seized from a property near Yatala, south of Brisbane.
The raids were the third stage of Operation Golf Brazen, a joint investigation of the Queensland Police Service, Australian Crime Commission and the Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission.
Today, police seized four pill presses worth about $40,000 on the black market and capable of procuding 1000 pills per minute.
They also found three hydroponic set-ups, 1825 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets, 80 grams of cocaine and $1 million in cash.
Search warrants were executed on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and one in NSW.
Since the operation began 12 months ago, 45 people have been arrested on 150 charges.
ACC chief executive Alastair Milroy said the operation had made a dent in a crime syndicate operating across three states, which also included Western Australia.
"We believe the drugs were predominantly distributed on the eastern seaboard of Australia," he said. "We are very pleased to have dismantled this network."
The CMC used its star chamber powers to elicit information from persons of interest, said acting Chief Superintendent Ian Parsons.
"Our investigators have provided crucial expertise in identifying assets bought with the proceeds of crime."
The 44-year-old man was due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

i remember brett from old albany creek days growing up an to think he got rich selling drugs lol at him have a nice holiday brett .
Yeah I heard about this.
Means the Doorslammers, Top Bike and Pro Stock Bike fields will be a bit odd next event. He tends to put the pressure on the other racers, so there will be a bit of a gap.
Amazing how many people sell drugs that are involved in drag racing. I remember one tuner saying "if half of his customers didn't sel drugs he would be out of business". Sad but true.
Hope the scumbag rots in jail, nothing worse than a druggy/dealer.

Heheh, I always wondered where drag racers got their money from, apart from sponsors.....
Mate just go into many workshops across Australia, ask what people do as a job and you quickly come to a conclusion on how they make money, yet to meet 50k a year people who can own 2 or 3 homes, afford new cars and expensive mods to go with them without coming to the conclusions I come to.

I couldn't see Victor having any part in anything like this at all.. But hey, Brett was a nice guy in person too. Anything could happen I suppose. Regardless, until someone can prove otherwise, there's no reason for me to believe that Victor is a scumbag too, so I won'tI do wonder if he had any/much knowledge on Stevens' situation though.
Word on the street over here is that brett also punched out his major sponser a lil while ago and thats another reason y hes loosing all his cars and bikes. Hasnt been the 1st time hes done somthing like this either.
I dont think there will b much of a gap between drivers now alot of the drivers r now figuring out the combos that zaps rat is running but yet hes still No. 1 should have his 2nd car running soon 2.![]()

Since Stevens retired from racing himself, his team has fallen back. May not make a difference in the grand scheme, but it leaves one position open in the field for a less experienced person than usually fills it.
They're all getting pretty close now, personally I'd like to see Jay Upton get his nitro bike running properly. The Honda's been running lean after half track every run, and even then he's right at the top of the field. Once he gets that thing running properly he'll be unbeatable.
its true there's heaps of drug money in some of the performance cars and everyday high end cars on the street, etc, there getting into it younger and younger, it sad and not right, drug wars will spark up again soon, by the amount of people selling them these days.
yeh suprised no mention of guns, maybe the heavies have them for when you don't pay up.
Do the crime, do the time. Have fun behind bars.
brett's dad is the only importer for (JD) in australia, he would be ****ed off if he lost the right's due to mud sticking.

Even in our sleep we happen to be right.

jujst a pity they all cant be caught
i know im digging up an old thread here but does anyone know what the outcome of this whole scandal was?
me and the blokes at work were chatting about it the other day, to the best of our knowledge the police paperwork that listed all the stuff taken from bretts place was posted on the street commodores forum. no drugs there, not the biggest amount of cash but a suspiciously large number of mobile phones were taken. stevens reakoned he was set up, had a day in court a few months later etc
anyone know where it went from there?
