Worst Holden colours.

I couldn't find a previous thread on this, so hope I haven't overlooked it somewhere.

What were the worst colours Holden ever used on its cars? I can think of a few over the years to start this topic off.

The HD came out with a snot green that was really off. It wasn't popular at all (and no wonder!), so you never see it around these days. Younger members of the forum may never have seen this colour. Lucky them.

The HQ had many colours over its long life. In 1972, it was available in a pale metallic pink colour called Rose, I think. It stank. Fags probably drooled over it.

In the early 70's, for some reason, Mustard Yellow was very popular with many manufacturers. The HQ copped that one too. Mud Brown was also "in".. uhuh, the poor ol' Q got that as well.

But in recent times, I have to say that Morpheus/Morpheous (spelling?) used on the VE (the purple colour, right?) is the worst for many years and the SV6 I saw yesterday, that prompted this post, was fitted with 20" chromed dinner plates and was easily the ugliest VE I have ever seen. And I just know that this will p*** off a few VE owners here.

So, what do other members think about lousy Holden colours over the years?

Hothouse looks alright to me, but that bright baby/sky blue colour (don't know the marketingese word for it) looks shithouse IMO. Also I doubt that purple VE colour will stand the test of time...

I think the blue is called Tourismo. I'm with you - it looks wrong on a car as large as a Commodore.

I also happen to think Hothouse is one of the better colours, but then, I like metallic greens. The HG had a bright metallic green called Lakeside Green which was only available on Premiers and Broughams, I think. There's one not far from here and even though it's dilapidated, the colour still comes up well.

Turismo is the colour in question, i don't mind it on the ss, almost bought one actually.

Yeah, I can remember the dark, non-metallic colour that LJ's came in - a mate had one in the mid 70's. It looked like a council car or an ex-army Khaki green. It was also put on the poor old HQ too. A real dung heap colour.

Baby vomit green from the VL. It was disgustingly great, just like Beige cricket uniforms.

On the hothouse subject, I much much much prefered 'Kryptonite' the colour of the SSX concept. Sex.

I like hothouse, but only on one of the pilot monaro's, looked ****in awesome sitting on the trolley as a bare shell, all the fluro's lighting it up from every angle!

I think the worst I've ever seen by far is the pale yellow used on VK -> VN ex cop cars/taxis...I don't know if Holden ever offered that colour to the general public though, hopefully not! Either that, or Beige, from the same era....what was the point in offering beige when they had white as well? (which looks much better)

Even after all these years, I still think HHG on the VY SS's looks pure sex, if its looked after well.

Tiger Mica, blargh - very boring and dated on the VT's. I have seen it on a couple VS's though and I think it looked sensational on them.

Hot house is the same for the VY, only it looks disgusting on Gemini's and Skylines instead of nice.

Edit: Devil Yellow was a nice rare treat, would spot a Monaro a mile off until the Fraud Falcon came out in a very similar shade of yellow...

Dont know the names, but when dad used to get company cars, he got a vs. sort of a vomit colour! but after a while we got to like it
Then when it was time to get the vt, he got a even more vomit colour!
