I have a crazy idea to make a custom parcel shelf in my vt s, Just looking around for some Ideas still, so does anyone have some pics, doesn't have to be a vt shelf any car is fine.
ok..... well not much interest yet, So i will add what i got done today.
Im going to mount these on the middle of the shelf under some orange vynal so it stands out off the shelf.
Im also thinking of painting the speaker grills silver or maybe orange to match..

Should look interesting when done. I'll be looking forward to the finished product.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
quick update, i bought some red vinyl and put the HOLDEN templete under it and glued it down, its almost finished, but you can see what its going to look like. Im going to the wreckers tomorrow to get another shelf to mount it

ok update, the plan all went to hell, the holden symbol was too hard to get the vynl to stick down to, by the time i stuck it to the shelf you couldnt even read the HOLDEN word it all pulled out and the whole shelf is all wrinlky, and i snapped the surround on the shelf that the middle seat belt goes through. So screw the custom shelf idea, it can go burn in a fire, i put me original shelf back in that i got from the wreckers.
End rant.
P.S , no one attempt to make a custom shelf unless your a pro, ul get pissed off and start breaking shit![]()
yes you will get angry but i have just finished a custom parcel shelf in my VS Calais and it looks/sounds !@#$ AWESOMEmanaged to get a 12" sub up there with NO cutting or modifying of the vehicle whatsoever and i even kept my original shelf cover intact for if i ever want to sell the car and put the original back in! If you want pics then just click on my rude thread @ the bottom of the post! Dont give up lads if you just take the time to do it over a few days with a few beers and an extra set of hands you will have a result that you can be proud of

Nice work man, that is a top job and a nice looking shelf, I just finished putting my car back together, all back to normal now, The only difference, i have a second parcel shelf sitting in my garage to play with, i think im going to scrap the idea of all the symbols and cool stuff, Im gonna try cover it with orange fluffy stuff, so you cant see any imperfections being wrinkles or anything, and il stick a holden badge right in the middle. Il go get the stuff tomorrow and have another crack at it if im not too busy.
This guy ported his subs through the parcel shelf? Reckons it sounds great too.

It actually looks pretty good.
Are you sticking with the red?
And i hope youve washed your feet since u took those pics![]()
im moving to an orange material now, to match the car a bit better, And i used contact adhesive you apply with a brush, i 4got what its called, its pretty damn strong shit. And my feet were only dirty because i as walking in and out measuring the shelf, i should have got the 2nd shelf first, so i could have it by my side measuring it.. o well. Don't worry, there all clean now![]()
Ok well here is my SECOND attempt, and might i add, alot better then the first!
So i went with an orange fluff and stuck it down, and put in some black speaker grills. I am also looking for a chrome holden badge to stick in the middle, not sure what yet, maybe just "Commodore" in fancy writing. any help would be great.
So here is what it ended up as after my first attempt..... What it finished as, and the stuff i used to stick it down with, hope you like it!

That fast grip looks like good stuff! where do you get it from? I need to do my hood lining again, the K&H spray stuff i used first time around didn't work all that good in some areas![]()

thanks mate, looks alot better then my first go lol, just needs a chrome somthing in the middle, might get a custom symbol made. The fast grip stuff i get from bunnings, i use it all the time, coverd my sub box with it, and the shelf, and use it when doing boot installs for mates cars. Its about $9 for the 600ml tin, or theres a 250ml for around $5, or there the 1L, 2L....
BAHAHA that fluffy orange theme is ****in awesome . !!! so pimp. do the rest of the door trims to suit !
SIR LS1
the two ton go kart
only since you asked.
Ill give you 10 points for effort and originallity but it really doesnt do it for me at all.
yeah im with davway. It looks good, but not really practical everywhere, coz it would gather dust hardcore. I thought my shelf was too much already of the fluffy stuff. But personal choice, looks wicked how it is tho. should do the door trims to match if you clean it frequently

Doesn't hold any more dust than the material on back of the seatcovers and i vacuum the car every week or so anyway. It's all glued in from behind the panels so if i sell the car it will be easy to remove.
