    Talking Vx 5.7 transplant to vy ex v6

    Hi all

    Today I bought a T Boned VX EXECUTIVE 5.7 gen 3, I want to transplant the driveline into my VY EXECUTIVE V6, does anybody know of any problems I will have and what do you think it would cost for a shop to do the transplant, cheers and thanks in advance for any replys.........

    Anybody? I bought the car cheap, to good to leave alone the motor alone was to good to miss out on......

    You have one BIG problem i can see:
    You cant put an older engine into a newer car.

    VX and VY are still 2 different models.
    eitehr way, the engine was built before his car so it makes no difference if it is the same year.

    VX is an 01 and the VY is a 03 I am sure the chassis are the same thinking that the VX K cradle is a straight bolt onto the VY as the VY also came out in Gen 3 as I have a complete VX as the donor car I should have everything I need for the transplant including Auto, looks like I will have to make a few phone calls any shop in Melbourne in particular I should ring......?

    I thought that the law was that the replacement engine has to put out the same, or less emissions than the original engine, rather than "old engines can't go into newer cars". VX Series II and VY were basically the same underneath, so I don't think you'd have any problems with that...

    Yeah I am sure they are the same as for emission laws and stuff thats just trivial to deal with as far as mechanical issues doing it I hoping it should be a basic swap and go....fingers crossed

    lol, guys he posted a link from the vic roads website which basically says no. You should just ring vic roads to confirm this before you do anything else, would be a shame to have to pull it out again.

    That doesn't mean shit. There can still be a few mounting parts etc that can be different. Not to mention according to Vicroads you basically can't.

    After that thread on your cheaply "blown" VN V6 that you claimed makes 410HP , i wouldn't be dishing out advice on LS1 transplants kid.

    You really need to compare the compliance plates which will tell you which emissions laws the various cars were built to comply with. If they are both the same it will be no problem. If the VY had a different set then it is no go. There were a few changes along the way so it would be prudent to check now.

    Reaper you make a good point there, I will check the compliance plates first light in the morning, Today I found a company Rapid Flow in Hoppers crossing that are happy to do the transplant whole drive line for $1500, though would hate to get the job done and not play by the rules with the emission code thing, somebody mentioned further up the thread about swapping the motor at a wreckers for a VY LSI reason being this motor has had 9k poured into it by a mate before his misses wrapped it around a pole and a further 2k into auto having it all tricked out by RVO fantastic motor thing drift though second and third.....really prefer this one in my VY......Thanks for the replys and advise to all...

    Ok well according to the Emission plates both cars came out under the same emission laws

    Well I guess the rest is up to mechanic and his handy work and as for doing it myself hahaha why do something that will take me a month that the mechanics can do in 3 days drive in V6 drive out Gen 3

    Once complete I will be wrecking the rest of the VX and selling complete drive line of the VY so if anyone needs anything yell out........cheers

    no problems in NSW with putting a gen3 from a VX into a VY...they're the same motor

    As far as Engineers I dont need it as VY also came out in Gen 3, vic roads only need the new engine details to update records and the car will be reinsured through a different company....just waiting on Mechanic to get back to me on an issue with VX Control module problem looks like we need some extra wiring for the loom.....

    Ooohhhhh and I just ordered the new VE clubsport body kit for it thats been modified to fit VY from ebay new bonnet with them GTO scoops, this puppy is going to be and look like one mutha of a VY
