    Question Cleaning o2 Sensors.....

Just after a little advice from anyone who can help.

Is it possible to clean the o2 sensors?

If so what is the best product to use? Will throttle body cleaner do the trick?

I asked this questions a few years back and was told by a good source on here that they either work or they don't. Cleaning won't make a difference.

not sure how the v6 sensors look but ive cleaned my vl o2 sensor
little wire brush on a flexi shaft, cleaned the inside of the slots then blew it out
wirebrushed the outside and gave it a cleaning with sand paper after

seemed to run better after and the fuel usage was better but i did replace the coolant sensor at the same time though

    Really not too sure here...

    I think Stockys right though.

I went to autobarn to price new ones only to find out they were $88.00 each there, but in their manual it states "if the o2 sensors have traces of deposit or are faulty they must be replaced"

I wouldnt even risk removing one, unless you are replacing them because they can be a bitch to get out and even strip the threads in the exhaust ,Ive had this happen

Better to replace them ozzie. I'm guessing that you've never put any in it? I'm about to do mine and was told that they're good for about 12 months, then it's better to replace them.

Only good for 12 months? Check most 02 sensor manufacturers and they will state they are good for 80,000 - 100,000kms. My first VS had the original sensors in it when I sold it with nearly 400,000kms on the odometer and were still fine.

Have a look on ebay for 02 sensors. Prices can vary from about $40 - $70 depending on make and model. I think Delphi make the factory sensors but you can get NTK/NGK or Bosch.
