Can anyone recommend a Sydney tyre joint that has a reasonable selection of second hand rubber? I'm only after 225/50x16s, nothing exotic, but have not had much luck finding any to date. Blokes in the places I have spoken to are saying that due to the "economic crisis" people are driving their rubber down to the canvas these days!
Thanks and cheers in advance.
Wrecker?..
Most tyre shops DO sell second hand tyres. Just ring some local tyre shops, they will help you out. Or try Egay, buy a set of ceptors with good rubber then have the rubber put onto your wheels.
yeh what cobez said, that size should be readily available as that's what alot of cars have now and alot of fleet cars old tyres, i got a set of 15" tyres in 2005ish for my vr and the tyre joint down the road from work had a set with 75-89% tread left of a fleer car, said they get heaps from fleet cars. now the standard is mostly 16" so you should be right.
hey mate give these guy's a go-
Joey's Express Tyres 9774 4364
Their on Milperra Rd at Reversby , they do used tyres, i got 16 inch tyres from them, and they do free fitting and balancing for you too if you purchase off them. Hope this helps
Thanks for the replies fellas.
15 inch tyres are not a problem, but I don't want 15s.
16 inch 50 series are hard to find. I've been to a few tyre shops now, all of them wish me luck with my search. Even Pick n Payless in Blacktown had no 225/50 x 16s!
I'll call Joeys in the morning.
cheers again
It would appear that Joeys is no longer in business. Their phone is disconnected, and the website is down.
I did manage to find what I was after at TopTen tyres in Carramar.
cheers
Out of curiosity, what did it set you back?
4 Nankang 225/50 x 16 with 90% tread were $70 each. (new is $115 each)
y do they have second hand tyres with that much tread?
seems odd to me
It would almost be worth buying four Highway Maxx tyres ($60 each) brand new, and having them freighted up![]()
