Hey guys.
After removing the tape around my bumpers on my car quite successfully in under 2mins flat lol im very eager to get those gay black strips off the doors. Now i have read a few how-to's and alot rely on certain tools, heres what ive come up with.
Fishing Line
Polish
Kerosine / Petrol
Rags
PATIENCE
Now i understand the uses of all but main item i wanted to know about was the petrol / kerosine useage. Ive read up that you can dribble / pour some inbetween the door and mould onto the sukaflex stuff and it softens it up, i wanted to know:
1) Has anyone has used this method?
2) Is there a change of paint being damaged?
3) Can i just lightly and slowly pull the mould off after leaving some on the sukaflex for a hour or so?
Thanks all
dooo not leave petrol on your car paint eva unless u do it really quickly even then i still think no
Search.....
I may get shot down in flames here but why cant you use petrol on your paint for an hour or so. Petrol stays on my car for weeks at a time when it spills out the filler hole and the inside of my filler flap is not stripped of paint. I think its a good idea, but flame suit on*hides*
if its urethatne you want be able to get any liquard to soften it up,
just sit there with a really sharp spatular and slowly slice your way down the moulds,
run 100mph tape along both edges of the mould so you dont cause any scratches
if its double sided tape just use prepsol (wax grease remover), this will soften it up a little bit.

Just used boiled water out a kettle and pour it on, it softens sikaflex up nicely.
Do not use petrol or kero or anything of the sort as it will risk damaging your paint.
personally i reckon boiling water is the biggest waste of time, pending what car it is you could cause slight shrinking in the panel causing oil can effect
a sharp spatular is all thats needed, by the time the kettle is boiled you will have it off

When ever i need something from the wreckers, fishing line always does the trick. Wont **** your paint as well.

lol pouring a jug of water over a panel won't even heat the panel itself to the temperature it would be subjected to on a 30 degree day.
With boiling water you can pull the strip off with your hands it gets that soft, then focus on removing whatever sikaflex is left.
