    Default Cannon design

I want to make a cannon-type exhaust for my minibike. Can anyone give me a basic rundown on the internals?

It is just a perforated tube running through a larger pipe and has glass packing between the two.

    Looks like this.

I was going to go down the smart arse track but since it's on a mini bike he's allowed to put a cannon on it.

So is the inner tube supposed to be bigger than the input from the exhaust? Reckon i could use fibreglass insulation?

would only make it a little bit bigger, so it can slide over a small section of the exhaust, just to make it easier to mount

if its on a mini bike, why even use insulation in it? just make it without, I've seen lots of cannon mufflers that are basically just a pipe with fancy tapering at both ends.

The bigger the inner tube, the louder it will be. No you can't use fibreglass insulation, it's not dense enough. There is a special packing that is used in mufflers.
