Hi all, have trawled the search function but most of the posts on this were fairly old, so just wanted to see if anyone had any new info. Am looking at getting my VY tinted at Tint a Car with Midnight express (darkest you can legally go). They have quoted me $295.00 for the entire car. Reasonable?? I am in SA so if anyone knows anywhere else that does good quality dark tinting some numbers would be handy.
Cheers
I just got my VR done here in the West for $310 so $295 is reasonable.
yep for tint a car thats going to be a good job, so price is quite good!
"your gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide"
Statistics show that 90% of all commodore accidents happen right after the words "Watch this bro!"
I had mine done at tint a car for $295 in midnight express darkest legal.
well worth it i think!
It doesnt seem that dark but atleast its legal.
If theres tint on your car its worth it to take it to them to remove for $50.
I removed my old tint and it took me 7 hours of hard yakka. Whereas they have all the tools ect... to get it done in an hour
Looking at $265 for a whole sedan tint at Tint Professor [no matter what percentage, darker than legal or legal, or a mix of tints]. I've never had any problems with them. And theres even a tiny imperfection in my rear tint and they're willing to replace it at no cost! I've only noticed it now... like 5 months down the track! And they come with a Lifetime warranty too.
i got quoted 180 from out west tints over in nz. tint a car was heaps more expensive over here cant remember what though

yeah got mine done at tint professor, this is the second car i have got done by them. They do a great job! its whatever tint you want for $265. I also have these voucher thingos quote the date mine was car was tinted and you get trade price for it!
LOL, yea, well, tint professor are doing lifetime lol. So if it magically lasts longer than 25 years, it'll be fine! If it bubbles at anytime, they do it again!
sxc_sound, Trade price IS $265! It gets everyone LOL. They're just crap! Many people have gone in with them and been told yea, it's just to get customers, hell even a guy that now works for them was surprised at that. Anyways, yea, i've had 2 cars done by them. My first one i'm glad i did, if i didn't the glass would've gone everywhere in the collision! Instead it all stayed in one piece!Except for a few loose bits that broke off the edges. But better than the whole window!
Thanks for the info guys. Will probably book it in with tint a car tomorrow. had a look Tint professor but it looks like he i sonly in VIC & im in SA.
Cheers,
Mav
Oh right, sorry forgot about thatWell, i guess $295 is still a fairly good price then!
Comment when you get it done, maybe some pics too? :P
tahts an awesome price i got my ute done the other day and it cost $275 for the windows, quarter windows and back window but i think i still got ripped
I think mine cost $230 from tints-r-us, I wanted darkest legal and he said he could do it darker but no, I insisted on legal... don't want to leave anything up to chance. Comes with lifetime warranty and they did a bloody good job, just note that sometimes places will tint over stickers which happen to be on the back quarter windows or whatever so you may want to get them off with a razor before the job gets done (or just ask them), wifes car has the tint over the security system sticker designed to scare 90's thieves.
Oh and don't clean the tinted side with windex, apparently it'll destroy it.
Yes, no windex on tints. It's best just to use a lint free cloth. Or at worst armor all that isn't amonia based.
As for stickers, good places will remove them first as part of it!
On Main North Road there's Complete Windscreens I think it is, I've had 3 cars done there and haven't had any problems so far.
The VE was done shortly after getting it, from memory that was $210 or $220 in whatever percent you were after.
How many guys with 5% tinting get looked at by the cops? Do they even care? More to the point, would they care if it were a P platers car?
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
give instant windscreens a call
cheers
My last car was 5% all round, the wifes 4by is 15% alround and my work van has 5% on rear but 20% front. I havn't had any grief from the lads in blue but then again I dont drive stupid to warrant there attention. I am also giving 40 a nudge though
My new VN will definatly be having 5% tint.
The Excel cost me $200 the Jackaroo $220.

I had Midnight Express applied by Tint-A-Car 2 weeks ago. I'm happy with the tint but am not happy with the 15mm gap on the sides of the rear windows (not visible when windows are fully up). It also has a few pinprick bubbles on one window and what appears to be a cut on the rear 1/4 glass.
I admit I did do a close inspection and worry if I'm being too picky?
They said bring it in and "we'll have look".
Cost was $395 after the $100 off March special.
Here's a photo
