Default Jaycar speedo corrector installation, need definitive answers!

Have just finished putting together the jaycar speedo corrector, but I am unsure of which wire to hook it up to. I know that it needs to be hooked up between the ECU and the speedo, but I'm not sure of the wire colour. My car is a 97 Vs V8 ute, but I can't find a wiring diagram for it on doctor bob's list. Also, where have others installed theirs? Near the ecu? Near the speedo? Any information would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance,

    Caillim

I installed mine at the ECU. Wire is violet and white, location C5 in a VS V6. Possibly different for a V8. Input from ECU, output towards speedo.

manual or auto will most likely be A10 for manual but let me confirm that before attaching to it.

Ok, I looked at all the wires at the ECU, and could only find one violet wire with a white trace. I thought there would be two, one input and one output for the ecu? Its an automatic delcowizzid.

No there is only one in that colour. Check where the loom joins the ECU, on the plug should be written C5. Cut the wire, put the ECU end into INPUT and the other end to OUTPUT.

A10 on vr and VS V8 i think violet and white comes from sensor to that pin then from that pin to dash.connect into the wire from the sensor is best then the ecu will see the difference to but you can join into the wire to the dash instead

that doesnt sound right. with the VR/VS, the speedo signal goes to the ECU first, then to the dash. you would want to install it before it goes to the ECU, so that the ECU isnt receiving incorrect speed readings

i dont think you can cause the VS auto VSS is is a reluctor style outputting sinewave and the manual ones are squarewave output same as the dash feed its squarewave too

damit! reckon my best bet would be to go from the dash cluster and trace it back a bit? maybe behind the drivers fuse panel?
