I bought a full manual conversion from a mechanic for $1000. He offered to install it for $2700, and I'm pretty sure that included purchase price.

Where do you live? I can do a T5 conversion in your driveway for a good price.

ah ok well that should be about right, you can get a whole rough car for about 2500 so should be doable, get morton to bring one over from Melbourne :P

lol Greenfoam, I should start an interstate mobile Manual and 304 conversion business

You'd need V8 brakes (1" master, bigger rotors, bigger finned calipers + pads), and V8 springs (technically, but you can get away without the springs). The diff should be fine, I think some V8 diffs had shot peened gears, but I don't think you'll need them. BW diffs tend to be pretty hardy to start with.

Then you have to consider Morton's petrol bill for carting a trailer full of tools interstate

... however, I should have some time off work in a month

Haha, you'd have to get stuck in and get your hands dirty. I don't do ALL the work for people One of my conditions is that people are out there working with me the whole time.

The original poster. Your S2 VP should have the bigger brakes allready. Diffs the same, Lukes putting 360 rwkw and 700+ Newton meters through non shot peened gears so you will be right . To make it exactly like the V8 setup you would change front springs and add a 1 inch master cylinder

Ahhh ofc, Series II had the V8 brakes standard. I wonder if you'd only have to change one side of the wiring loom. The other end should, in theory, all be the same so long as you grab a loom from a VP V8. Series 1 VN looms would have had too much patchwork missing.
