Default VR-VY keys are in fact waterproof.

last night i couldnt find my keys.

i searched everywhere. and it just so happened that they went through the washing machine. and hey it survived and still works. i was expecting to have to **** around getting a new one and waste another 80 bucks.

just thought id let you guys know. dont test your key just in case its not as good as mine. but if an accident does occur your key should be fine

I've taken my key for a good swim in the ocean before and it worked fine afterwards, but would't recommend it on a regular basis haha, good to hear yours made it out alive. I will need a new one soon, but they are so bloody expensive!

They arnt water proof, but from memory of seeing inside one i dont think there is anything in there that will be drastically affected by water ingress. They are extra low voltage and are mainly an ic and a few other small solid components. I wouldnt recommend it but yes your key has a good chance of surviving.

I think "Water Resistant" would be a better term to use.

Also the heat really starts to get to them after a while. Left the remote out in the sun on a 38* day, wouldnt unlock the doors. But as soon as it cooled down it was fine.
