Just commodore spares

Hey guys,

Need some advice, I've been living in Melb for the last 7 years and only just moved back to adelaide a month ago.
My trans has just gone in my VY commo..
My mums boyfriend took it to profix cause he knows a guy and he said $3200 for a new one $1600 for a second hand thats done around 50,000 ks we talked him down to $1300.
Then i rand just commoder spares and they said $800
can anyone tell me if they are good, or have people had problems with them??
Or can you suggest somewhere I should go instead??

Get a full rebuild and a tough box for around the $2000 mark.

I'd go the $800 from jc spares then sell the car and get a new one.

JC Spares are normally alright, just extremely expensive. If they are offering $800 i'd continue to ring around cause you're bound to find cheaper.

Many times they've quoted me more for a second hand item than Plaza Holden have charged me for a brand new one lol

I got him down to $440 for the trans and $220 for fitting
It feels sooooo much better.

now all i need is drivers side front quarter pannel and bonet and should be looking alright..

Since you didn't know, i'll tell you now, stay away from profix, and find a decent mechanic who you trust!

what happened to the tranny? how many kms>?

long story mate,
the radiator got a leak and trans fluid got in the radiator.
so i had that fixed in december 08 now what the machanic didn't tell me was that if trans fluid got in your radiator, coolent would have got in your trans!
So that was what was wrong with it.

The trans has done 230,000ks so from what i have been told it was due for a new one soon anyway.

I will be looking for a good machanic seeing as i'm moving back to adelaide, if anyone wants to recomend one please feel free!

also, you guys still meet a k-mart on anzac hwy?
might come down, even tho my car is a S**t box...lol

yes we do still meet
last week we went fishing instead but we normally down there sooner or later 830 onwards for most

I got a new box in my vs from them it later lost 1st get. It was a 2nd hand one still under warranty from them( mechanic put it in) They fixed it straight away without any hassles did a good job. They where really easy to deal with.
