So I heard on the news that the Vic government has said that they dont want the UFC coming to melbourne next time theyre in Aus.

For those of you who dont know, UFC came to Aus and was held at Acer Arena. Anyway, I think it's pretty stupid that the Vic gov doesnt want it here? Its a very popular sport around the world, I think yesterdays even was telecast in 160 countries. It was the second quickest sell out in UFC history as well.

Especially considering that they want melbourne to be the sports capital of Aus... I dont see why not.

Opinions etc? Vic governement make the right choice or not. I say not. :boxing:

I dont see the problem really, until Victorian government fixes the violence issue in this state, it is not a bad idea.

Sadly it used to be what was n TV etc didnt effect children, these days what they see they portray. Just one walk through melbourne city on a saturday night reveals that.

Problem is, it will take a lot more than not allowing one sport in the state to really fix Melbournes issues. They need to stop worrying about people crying racism and shut down this ethnic gang problem.

UFC = gay porn that's my wifes definaition lol. Even I can see that it's got an uncomfortable amount of gayness in it, worse even than AFL or Rugby, very hard to watch. I'm sure it's a popular spectator sport for alot of people but I can't really get much out of it.

I've got to say Bruno's take on it was very funny :p my wife is like that's right!!!! I told you!!!, this guy is pretty funny too

mma has bastardised the martial arts scene thanks to ufc , id rather watch a good boxing match than ufc these days.
in the early days of ufc people of different styles would fight each other with nearly no rules and it was much more fun too watch... now every fighter cross trains and %90 of fights end up on the ground in a roll around tickling match.....boring.

I don't see the appeal of it at all and I see blokes training for these sort of events on a weekly basis because they train in the studio next to my kids martial arts class. I'd much rather watch the kids fight each other than 2 grown men rolling around with heads locked between each other sweaty thighs yuk lol but then again each to there own. Though if ethnic gang violence is a problem down there like minux suggested maybe its a good thing not to encourage this because I have noticed there tends to be a large ethnic support base for this sport.

.......................The problem with the ethnic gangs started in customs.
Fix that problem, stop the violence.
Gutless wonders thinking they're all it and a bit with thier knives and in packs.
Get one of these 15 year old pussies by themselves and lets see how 'tough' they are

we get `knees of fury` events which is thai boxing quite often and i havent seen a fight break out at one of those yet.... might attract a different crowd than the mma fans though.
