Has anyone had the experience of putting a v8 radiator into a v6 vs, did the extra height make the radiator cap etc hit the inside of the bonnet and did it perform better for cooling the car? Cheers

It wont hit the bonnet.

Shouldn't need a V8 rad.

The V6 ones are good enough.

Yes, looking on fleabay, there's like an extra 30mm in height in the v8 ones. And as long as my radiator runs at operating temp, I wanna keep it as close to the ideal temp as I hate it creeping up. Just waiting for the day my head gasket to blow out (if it hasn't already slightly) everyone keeps saying 3/4 temp is normal. But until recently, it never went over 1/2.

I have owned both V6 and V8, VR and VS commodores and both radiators sit the same height top to bottom and left to right in the radiator support, in fact they both use the same mounts and the same black plastic infill at the top/front.

Will fit fine but your thermo on the v6 won't bolt onto the v8 radiator your can just get a 16 inch thermo fan of ebay for about $40 and fit that to the radiator and use the wires from old thermo this would keep it cool fine as I had 16 inch thermo on my vs v8 for years never really went much over a quarter !!! If u where to do the au style thermo fans u might need to run relays as they use 25 amps each fan as I have just learnt one realy won't run both fans and u could use the power from existing fan for trigger wire !!!

IMO you wont get any benefit from fitting a V8 radiator to a V6.

But you will VR38, same concept as oil coolers. More liquid to cycle, more time to cool, also bigger fan more air forced onto the radiator. Increasing the radiator cores is similar concept to burnout cars running a 2nd radiator.

I doubt the V8 core is any bigger than the V6.
