Hi Greg, I recently bought a VE V6 with a fair few K's on it so i'm expecting it may need some shocks soon and probably a set of pads. Just wondering what you have and recommend. A touch stiffer than a standard Shock would be good, and performance pad is fine as long as it works well when cold as well as hot.
I read a comment about Boge shocks in a different thread which said they have a lifetime warranty, is that true ?
Thanks.
Hi mate,
Yep, Boge have a lifetime warranty, which is unusual for a shocks. Boge are $135 each for the front, and $85 each for the rear. Alternatively KYB are $139 each for the front, and $100 each for the rear.
Pads, QFM HPX (Bendix Ultimate equivalent performance wise, and very low dust and rotor wear), $79 per axle set front or rear.
All in stock.
Regards,
Greg

Hi Greg, done some checks on my barge and the pads are fine but still interested in replacing the front struts. How would you compare the ride with Boge to the standard monroes ? and which would you recommend are best between the Boges and KYB ? I will probably be doing some of the bushes at the same time but have not decided if i will go with rubber or urethane.
Hi mate,
Either the KYB or Boge would be a good step up from the factory Monroe.
[quote]On a standard height VE, you can go either. We choose the Boge for lowered cars, but for anything else I would just go with the cheaper one. The KYB is probably a touch sportier than the Boge, but the Boge come with a lifetime warranty.
Whiteline's Urethane is quite soft, and is acceptable in most places, otherwise I'd only use urethane in places like inner control arm bushes. Leave the strut tops rubber. Boge strut tops with bearings are $59 each.I will probably be doing some of the bushes at the same time but have not decided if i will go with rubber or urethane.
Any other questions just let me know!

Greg

BUMP ! Hey Greg, I've just been getting around on the original stuff till now but its time to get serious.
Can you give me a fresh price on front and rear pads and those same shocks as above for a VE sedan. I reckon i'd like to try Remsa pads as long as they won't turn the wheels black...
How dusty are they compared to factory pads ?

They're a bit dustier than HPX, but not excessively so. How they compare to factory I couldn't really say...I reckon i'd like to try Remsa pads as long as they won't turn the wheels black... How dusty are they compared to factory pads ?

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the offer but i'll leave the discs for now.
I'll take a pair of Boge's for the Rear and a full set of Pads, fronts and rears. Whichever pulls up better between Remsa or the basic QFM's. I'll assume Remsa ?
If you can send me your account details i'll transfer the money. All posted to Sydney
Might get some rotors and front shocks next time you have a deal on![]()
Probably Remsa, if you don't mind a little dust, or else QFM HPX isn't far behind for virtually no dust.
Easiest way to order is credit card over the phone, 1300 884 836, or else PM me your details, full name, delivery address (preferably a work or business address!!), contact number and email and I can fire you through an invoice with direct deposit details. If you can send me your account details i'll transfer the money. Hi Greg,
Earlier you said that you would only reccomend urethane for control arm inner bushes. Just curious why, if you were going to mix rubber and PU bushes would you put the poly bush on the inner instead of the outer ? Probably in terms of handling the biggest gain would be on the inner, but in NVH terms wouldn't the poly bush on the inner end ( attached to car body /chassis ) cuase more noticable vibration than if it was on the outer end ?
As i noticed when installing the Boges there are a LOT of bushes on the back end of a VE, so i'm thinking there has to be huge potential there to improve steering response, accuracy etc ...
And on the topic of bushes do you have those Nolathane or superpro void inserts for the big rubber bushes that are full of holes ?
Ah, I may have been taken out of context... My opinion is run rubber strut tops, and leave urethane for things 'like' the inner control arm... Which is pretty much everything else. Strut tops is what transfers most NVH, so unless it's a track or club sport car, stick with hardened rubber.
Which bushes are you referring to the with the void? front/rear, diff/control arm etc.?

hehe, OK i get it now, you mean inner control arm ( both ends ) rather than control arm inner. sweet.
The voided OE bushes are in the mounts which hold the rear suspension carrier to the underside of the body. They are quite big bushes and from what i read somewhere have 5 or 6 holes in them to allow flex and soften the ride ...... which makes the rear end slushy when cornering any faster than granny. I saw somewhere, might have been pedders ? an add for some bushes with 5 (or 6 ) fingers which slot nicely into the holes to create a solid 'composite' bush.
Yep, pretty much all control arm related bushes, which on a Commodore, includes the radius rod bushes, which are a particular bug bear being fluid filled from factory (again, the chase for OEM NVH at the expense of longevity/performance).
Ah yep yep. This is what you're talking about:The voided OE bushes are in the mounts which hold the rear suspension carrier to the underside of the body.
