Greg,
I fitted a set of HPX Brake Pads to my 2005 VZ SV6, the front passenger side has begun to squeel like buggery under low pressure braking within the last 2 weeks or so. I am wondering if this is normal for new pads or if there may be a fault in the pads as none of the other brakes seem to squeel.

Just check that the anti-squeal clips on tops are seated correctly. The two smaller rabbit ears may need to be bent up slightly to apply more pressure on the centre strap. It's not an uncommon thing to have happen with these calipers. What has most of the driving been, around town, or highway etc?

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

majority Highway, between brisbane and townsville and then back again, im fairly sure that the metal plates are there.. i always wondered what they do. If when i get my car back and they arent there what should i do? will they stop the squeeling??

You need to bend up slightly the 2 smaller tabs, so that when the cover comes down it pushes the larger strap (that runs to the other pad) down with more pressure. It's a common issue with the VT-VZ front caliper. They'll definitely be there, they're pressed on, it's just a matter of whether or not they're doing their job.
