oddball one: I bought a set of brakes from a commodore cup car. Apparently the setup is very common: VN GrpA 330mm rotors with 4 pot calipers from a skyline.

I need pads for these but I don't know what model they are or how I'd go about finding out. Thought I would post here in case you know already

    Hi mate,

    Apologies about the late reply!

DBA 5000 Series Two Piece Front Slotted Rotors are $619 per rotor. The replacement ring next time though is only $329 per rotor in slotted.

OR, since we spoke last RDA have released their rotors to suit, which are all one piece, and prices as follows:
    Front Std $229 per rotor
    Rear Std $219 per rotor
Front Slotted $525 for the pair
Rear Slotted $509 for the pair

Any other questions just let me know!

    Regards,
    Greg

    Hi Sam,

Too easy mate, provided they're not Brembo calipers I know exactly what they are. Got about a dozen options (literally!) depending on what you're using the car for. Obvious choices are:
    - Remsa $89
    - QFM A1RM $119
    Both in stock

Or else if you wanted to do some pretty heavy track work etc, might look at something like Project Mu Club Racer, $350 for the set.

    A1RM Pads Excel!
I don't normally write reviews, unless they excel or end up at the other end of the scale.

On my second set of A1RM pads now with just a 324mm rotor upgrade. Gotta say they're endurance on the track in terms of fade is exceptional. Very little fade after some heavy laps and great peddle feel all round. Not too hard on the rotors, me running out of pad at the end of the straight did a hell of a lot more damage than the pads ever did

I did chew through them though, lasted 2 track days and the odd cruise in between. But in my opinion out performed a lot of high $$ pads in terms of feel and fade, so all in all an exceptional pad for it's cost.

On the street they perform as a street pad should, good enough while cold. I drive like a grandma when the car is cold anyway.

And super quick service...next day delivery from qld to sydney...and I only ordered them at like 3pm! Massive kudos to Greg!!

Thanks Greg, received these in good order while I was away with work. Shame it turned out the actual brake setup I bought didn't fit under my lovely 16s but that can't really be helped. Sell them off and move on I guess

I have a VZ executive 2005 and the brake dust on the front wheels is astounding. (19" chrome, so easy to spot dust). I'm not sure what brand the pads are due to only recently buying the car, but what's the dust like on the QFM pads?

    Hi mate,

Dust on the QFM pads (non motorsport or competition pads) is very good. What level of pad were you after, or what are you using the car for?

Go the HPX, which is a Bendix Ultimate equivalent performance wise, but low dust and rotor wear. $79 per set front or rear.

Nope, the Remsa definitely shouldn't be doing that. How did you bed them in, and where the rotors they're running on machined or replaced prior to installing the Remsa?

Pads an rotors were allbrand new an fitted by my mechanic. Rotors were bedded in as per instructions recommended by a member on here. No heavy braking for first 100kms an I found a straight patch got unto 60 applied brakes until down to 10kms did that a few times. Everything was good for first 2 - 3 weeks then came the dust an squeal ......

    What exactly was it?

Probably the only thing I could suggest is check that the ears on the top of the pads are applying enough pressure down (if not, bend the two smaller ears up) and give the pads a light rub on some concrete whilst they're out.

Well for future reference what are your instructions for bedding in brakes?

    Hi mate,

As above, we've found with VT-VZ Commodores, the largest cause of squeal is the metal tabs that apply pressure to the pads to stop them vibrating, which is the cause of noise. Check that the ears on the top of the pads are applying enough pressure down (if not, bend the two smaller ears up).

The Rems pads that have replaced the HPX seem to be better in this respect, as well as having side chamfers and releif grooves in the pads material, and a soft shim on the back, all designed to prevent noise. If it remains an issue (I'd recommend going out and giving them another bed in), then we can look at doing a deal on a replacement set of pads.

What is most of your diving? Hwy, street, heavy etc?

    Regards,
    Greg

Give the brakes some hard braking, they may have just glazed up due to lack of heat from the full face police spec, which doesn't work particularly hard when driven sedately or on the highway.

    Hi Trent,

Remsa to suit are $89 for the front and $79 for the rear. OR HPX is $79 per set front or rear.

Shipping is free when you order front and rear pads together, or else $8 per axle set individually.

Easiest way to order is credit card over the phone, 1300 884 836, or else PM me your details, full name, delivery address (preferably a work or business address!!), contact number and email and I can fire you through an invoice with direct deposit details.

Any other questions just let me know!

    Regards,
    Greg

Default F$%k me does it stop now!

Ever since fitting C4 calipers and 327mm rotor upgrade to my VR Commodore i've been really disappointed. Squeaky, dusty as and didn't pull up well at all, hell stomping on them couldn't even get them to lock up. So today i removed the Lucas pads and fitted QFM a1rm to the front's and some new braided lines. Well they felt great from cold, already they were better then i reached a spot for bedding them in. First medium brake from 60, holy shit, finally it pulls up like it should, second medium brake and the right front locks a little but stops on a dime, i can't wipe the smile off my face. These pads are awesome! Thanks Greg and QFM pads
