    Hi mate,

KYB don't make a shortened shock for the rear of the ute to suit lowered, so for this application we highly recommend going to an Oztec Shock. These are $119 each. For the front, again, KYB don't make a shortened shock for the VZ (only VT-VY), so we use a VY shocks, with the sway bar conversion link kit. These are $155 each.

So all up, for shortened shocks all round you're looking at $548, and delivery again would be free.

    Hi mate,

A full set of front and rear AGX is $995. If it's for a bit of track use though, I'd go Koni Yellows over the AGX, and these are $305 each for the front, and $259 each for the rear.

I've got a wh stato 5.7 auto its got 80 thousand kms and I think the suspension is very floaty. I do not want to lower it and I like the self levelling rear setup as I tow a caravan. Is it worth replacing the front shocks alone or will that upset the balance of the car's suspension. I put kyb gas shocks in the back end of my vt wagon cause the original shocks were leaking badly and I didn't really notice much difference, so I'm hesitant to use them again. How good are the agx ones? Can I go slightly stiffer standard height springs in the front? What do you recommend?

    Hi Jim,

    Sorry about the late reply!

If the front shocks need replacing then I would definitely do it, as if they're the original shocks now they're going to be pretty ordinary. KYB's to suit are $145, and unless you did track work anything else would be overkill. If you were after an AGX type shock I'd probably go Koni Yellow over them for similar dollars, but again, unless you're tracking the car it would be overkill.

Based on what you've said, if the shocks are fine (ie. they're not the originals) then I'd probably look at doing a front sway bar upgrade rather than stiffer springs. A Whiteline one is $185:
Whiteline Automotive - performance handling and suspension products. car spring coil shock damper swaybar sway bar anti-sway bush bushes australia australian whiteline automotive performance road holding turn-in camber caster toe in vehicle hot 4 v8

Any other questions feel free to give us a bell on 1300 884 836.

Hi Greg, I have a VZ SV8 all original suspension, 15,000k (yes 15k not a misprint). I feel that it has too much understeer and the rear shocks have never been much. I was thinking about KYB AGX rear shocks and a whiteline adjustable swaybar. After taking your advise on brake pads, I would really value your ideas and prices for what you can supply.
    Thanks, Steve

    Default Just too impatient

Hi , having found my self in charge of the house, phone and credit card with no wife or kids in attendance, I rang GSL and in exchange for their excellent advise I swapped money for car parts.
I settled for the whiteline adjustable bar and rear KYB AGX shocks, combined with a set of poly caster bushes for the front. I will post up the install and final result if anyone is interested.

Oh and in a display of macho behaviour I also ordered a set of shocks (F and R) for the wifes VX shopping trolly. "no dear most of the parts are for your car...honest"
    Cheers, Steve

    Hi guys

Could you provide a separate price for front and rear standard specification shocks for a VY 6 cylinder sedan please? The suspension setting is completely stock. Please include brand of shocks and postage in your quote.

I Got a set of KYB AGX rears and a Whiteline 18mm adjustable rear bar from Greg. (Great service BTW).
When I removed the rear bar it was 14mm (checked it with a digital caliper), is this normal for a VZ SV8?
My son suggested that some of the JC members alerted Holden about my driving skills and they had a special bar made.
    Cheers, Steve

The Koni Yellows are probably a little bit better performing shock, ie. a bit more sports orientated. Either would be fine for the street, but for track or sprint use I'd personally go the Koni Yellow.

    Steve,

I couldn't say for sure, but it wouldn't be too far off. I don't think my Cross 6 ran a bar much bigger than 14mm...
