Didn't read the whole thread but do police spec pads run different to standard rotors as well or are they used on stock rotors?
Are they the same as the WH Stato??
Sounds like a good deal

No standard rotors... straight upgrade for any VT-VZ Commdore/Stato/Crewman/Adventra etc.
The only things it doesn't fit is the VZ Monaro and other one off's that use the DB7599 C5 Caliper.
The DB7599 is very similar in shape to the police spec pad anyway, and these are also available in QFM HPX. Same $75 price.
Cheers,
Greg

do they disperse a lot of brake dust?
Na, the QFM's renowned for being virtually dust free. Beginning of page one someone who said they had Bendix Ultimates before hand, that these were miles better on brake dust.
Of all the pads I've personally sold/tried/used/raced on in this performance category the QFM's are definately the least dusty and noisy. The Lucas are temped slightly higher but are shocking on dust and the police spec Lucas are close to $150.
For the dollars and performance in a street car, these are far and away the best pads we've come across...
Has your clubby got these or the 7599's?

my clubby has the 7599s.
Cool. Just so long as you know, because alot of people confuse the police spec DB1344 and 7599's as they can look similar.
I'm currently out of stock of the HPX 7599's but it is a regular line and something I aim to keep in stock...

Difference between the two?
The two pads? The only real difference is there' a bit more cut away for the 1344 for the rotor.
As attached Police Spec 1344 on top. C5 Caliper 7599 bottom.

what do you charge for the 7599s, 4 off to 5034?
4 sets or 4 pads in a set?
They're $75 per axle set, ie. four pads. Shipping to 5034 would be $10.

Hi guys i have a vy ss. Not happy with the braking and want to improve it. I'm thinking i willl go for some DBA slotted rotors. Referring back to the original post, should i go for the standard DB1331 pad or the police spec DB1344? Or are better pads available? Thanks.
Hi mate,
Just for a hard driven street car not much goes past the DB1344 HPX pads. The 1344 bit jst refers to it being the police spec full face pad, and in the HPX formula is about the best out there for a street car where dust and rotor wear are as important as performance. The HPX is what we run in our Cross 6 and couldn't be happier. And for $75 there's not much else out there that even comes close to it on price, let alone performance.
Regards,
Greg

Again, the best pads I have found yet, even coming from Bendix ultimate police pads. Just cant wait till I can get some made up for the mazzy 2.......
Thanks mate! I've put out a couple of calls to mates that work at Mazda dealerships, and when they start to get the first brake pad changes on them they're going to hold onto the old pads for me so we can send them away to QFM.

I am fairly interested in getting a set of brakes, front and rear.
Figured might as well get these, my commodore has "stock" brakes as far as i know of. Its a 1997 VT Sedan, would these just fit in like normal?
Cheers mate, sorry for the dumb question im a bit car illiterate![]()

Hi mate,
Yep, these will fit as normal. They're the same backing plate as the normal pads, but they just use the full face material.
Cheers,
Greg

ohh ohh let me know when you get 'em
just an update
Fitted the pads to the Cross 6 Adventra last Thursday. Dad had the privellidge of driving it through Kangaroo Valley (a windy, twisty, few hairpinned mountain road) on Friday. He said it felt like they needed to be bedded in a bit, but came good and felt good throughout the most important part of the trip - throwing it into hairpins and hoping it stops, something I found my Acclaim didnt like to do the week before (I assume it has cheap pads fitted) !
We then hooked up the half cabin cruiser boat on Saturday for the trip down the freeways. Not much to stop for but the bits we did it felt fine, and there appears to be no brake dust, which isnt bad for a car thats essentially had 2 hard braking days almost right after each other.
Thanks mate for the feedback!

they worked the other day, had to come to a quick stop
Only problems Ive noticed - they seem to squeal every now and then, and their leaving a white powdery residue (brake dust), which could be causing the sqeal.
The car had a good clean a week ago and has only had normal driving.
The performance is great, just wondering if the residue and sqeal are normal for this type of pad? We havent got around to fitting the second set I purchased
Also how much are they now, I need to fit a set to my car next week.
White? Never had any sort of problems with it leaving white dust... did you use any sort of brake cleaner that could've done it? Though usually dedicated brake clean is residue free...
I wouldn't say its normal, but I know the OEM rotors do come up slightly worse than aftermarket ones with regards to squeal (especially on mine, AWD).The performance is great, just wondering if the residue and sqeal are normal for this type of pad? Still just the regular $75 front or rear. Also how much are they now, I need to fit a set to my car next week.

thanks Greg, its now gone to a normal black/dark grey sort of dust now but I wont be too worried til after we've washed it again. Its not an overall huge build up compared to Bendix or similar, but there is a build up of brake dust happening.
Would you reccomend DBA slotted or something similar? We're running the original discs on the Adventra (also AWD), I had it today to run around with because ironaically I was installing the other set of QFMs into my Acclaim and it was starting to squeal a bit even at low brake pedal pressure (thus why I was asking how much because I owe a mate a set of pads!!). I'm putting it down to the fact the Adventra hasnt been washed for about 2 weeks now so perhaps its a build up of brake dust getting between the pad and rotor.
Ive just installed them on the Acclaim as I mentioned, with OEM discs, so we'll see how it goes. JCCC NSW are doing a cruise from Sydney to Canberra, then Canberra to Bathurst and back next weekend so that'll be the testI took it out just then to top up fuel and found once they had some heat in them (its a cold frosty night tonight) they worked extremely well. I can definately see the surface area difference OEM to QFM though, huge difference I have to say - photos dont do it justice.
Anyway I'll keep you updated, I know with you runing it in your car you know how their going first hand, but I'm sure feedback doesnt hurt and I decided to keep it public so potential customers can see how we're going with them because what I'm saying is genuine
Overall with the Adventra we're happy, apart from the dust build up happening when compared to genuine pads, but the braking performance is definately there which the genuines dont have.
I've just priced up some RDA rotors for myself cause the Cross 6 is about to get its 60,000 service, and I know they'll want to change the rotors on me and charge genuine prices...
The standard rotors are $109 each, and a PAIR of slotted rotors are $305.

Excellent. Dust isn't generally something people have mentioned, but every car is different, and often dust can be rotor dust. All good feedback anyway thanks mate.Overall with the Adventra we're happy, apart from the dust build up happening when compared to genuine pads, but the braking performance is definately there which the genuines dont have.
