I've just fitted some HPX pads to my VX Commodore (its just a daily runabout / family car) and wow, the cold bite on them is awesome and once they were warmed up wow! The abs kicks in so quickly! Very very impressed with them! Will definitely be recommending these pads to everyone I know!

QFM HPX Pads Fitted To VW Golf!
I have had the HPX pads front and rear of my 97 Golf 2.0 for a month or two now and I'm a big fan. The price was one of the best I could find, who ever I spoke to at GSL was really nice and the pads themselves stop great. Way better then the supercheap ones I had before which cost more. And my wheels are staying clean much longer then they used to. Very happy customer. They also got to Sydney the day after order for next to nothing cost.

well atm the fronts need to be machined, and thought i might as well just get new ones, only thing im worried about these pads is if they over heat the standard rotors, hence the reason why i think i should go for the slotted?
    cheers

It's not going to be possible to overheat rotors with these pads. You overheat a rotor you need to get it to about 723 degrees.... Glowing red hot, like on a race track, is about 620 degrees... On a street car you'll never see more than about 450-500 maximum.

Front pads are $79 for the set in HPX. Front rotors are $45 each for standard, or $179 for a pair of slotted. Shipping to Caloundra $8.

    Regards,
    Greg

QFM HPX wins again against the competition!
    QFM HPX vs. Bendix Ultimate

...Ultimates are like a set of Ferodo generic pads!

In My Opinion - I have tried both on my VX Commodore:

I had Bendix Ultimates and I found them to be noisy, very very dusty and it liked to eat out my rotors, they pull-up was okayish but I found they didn't have enough "bite" for my liking.

The QFM HPX Pads - I had them fitted to new rotors as the old ones were chewed out and could not be machined further. I purchased standard rotors after the pads had been bedded in wow.. simply wow! The pull up from them was so much better, and ABS kicked in much much quicker hardly any dust and alot less noisy.

Still some squeaks here and there but all in all, a much better improvement over the Ultimates.

    Hi mate,

Which specification of brakes has your Clubby got? Has it got the 2/1 pistons PBR setup, on 330/315mm rotors, or have you got the Harrop calipers on the 343/315mm rotors?

Any idea how long these take to bed in? Reason i ask is that i've just put some on and after a few hard stops they still sound like a Melbourne electric train under light braking, and i can see that they are only contacting about 60% of the disc (machined stock discs). Under hard braking they don't make any noise.

edit: just went and thrashed the shit out of them. No so much noise now and there's even contact on the disc

Some cars will take longer than other, and not having full contact is always a clear indicator that they haven't bed in properly yet.

I used the A1RM pads in my VT SS at a recent Motorkhana and they were great, absolutely no fad at all and I was very very happy with them.

    Good Evening Greg.

Could you please help me with the following:

I have a Feburary 2006 WL Caprice with a Gen 4 (V8) that has the factory fitted PBR upgrade kit referred to as the "PBR Performance Brakes".

It runs 320mm slottted rotors on the front and 29Xmm (something) on the rear. The fitted calipers (I'm told) are the C5 calipers and are red in colour with the Holden and PBR logos in silver painted on them.

I am trying to establish which pads I need to replace them?

Which pads are required and what is their price including postage to Melbourne (postcode 3049)?

    Many Thanks.

    Hi mate,

Yep, you just need the C5 pads in the front, and std pads in the rear. Just for performance street use (no track use), we previously would've recommended QFM HPX, but we are slowly phasing HPX out in favor of a better performance street pad. It's a European performance pad called Remsa, which is rated to 650 degrees (versus 550 for the HPX), whilst still being low dust and rotor wear. Also the Remsa come with noise reducing features such as a relief groove and shamfers in the pad material, as well as a soft backing shim, all of which the HPX do not come with. We've been supplying Remsa to high performance street road cars like Porsche and Ferrari for many years, but the pricing has now become such that we're now able to expand it to most road cars.

Remsa to suit your car are $105 for the front, and $79 for the rear. Shipping is free when you order front and rear pads together, or else $8 per axle set individually.

    Regards,
    Greg

    Hi Justin,

Slotted rotors to suit are $179 for the front pair, and $165 for the rear pair.

HPX we've phased out in favor of a better performance street pad.

Remsa to suit your car are $89 for the front, and $79 for the rear, and as with the HPX, the fronts are a full face police spec pad.

Shipping on just the brake parts would be $22, or free if included with the shocks.

    Regards,
    Greg

    Hi mate,

Apologies about the late reply! Remsa to suit are $89 for the front and $79 for the rear. Shipping is free when you order front and rear pads together, so all up $168 delivered.

Easiest way to order is credit card over the phone, 1300 884 836, or else PM me your details, full name, delivery address (preferably a work or business address!!), contact number and email and I can fire you through an invoice with direct deposit details.
