I assume the police spec pads are the bottom one in the pic? Loods like there would be less pad contact with the disc.
After the success of the group buy, and the feedback, I've decided to keep these as a permanent product in stock.
It's the police spec DB1344's to suit the standard DB1331 caliper that comes on all VT-VZ Commodores...
The DB1344's cover the entire backing plate with friction material, not just the little bit that DB1331 does. These are a direct replacement fit, what the cops use, and also what PBR recommend as their first upgrade.
These are being made by special order, and not available off the shelf. I looked into getting them when I wanted to try something different in my Cross 6, and these were far and way the best option. They're being made in QFM HPX which performance wise is much better than Bendix Ultimate. The HPX unlike Lucas and Bendix are virtually dust free.
Last group buy I ordered 6 sets, and had this come back:
By the way those pads I put on (front & rear) are bloody excellent. I already had Bendix ultimate Police spec, and apart from being dusty as all hell they stopped well. There is a definant improvement even on those!
They dont seem to grind or squeal, and I think they have a better initial bite then as you increase pressure pull the old girl up smoothly and purposefully (if that makes sense). Brilliant stuff from pads that cost less than half the price, and are locally made.
Happy as a pig in sh$t. Infact hapy enough to buy a second set to have sit in the shed for next time.I'm able to retain the group buy price of $79 per set, and $8 shipping Australia wide. The brakes are nicely bedded in now and work a treat, I never realised the difference until you really need them, they pull the car up very nicely indeed so a big thumbs up
Attached is a photo of the standard DB1331 pad, vs the police spec DB1344.
Any questions let me know!

Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
No they are the top one. More contact.
Correct, the police spec on is the top photo with the larger contact area.

I use super x type in qfms on my vr (vt calipers)...no excessive dust and they stop well with a vt master/ booster...where do your pads sit in reference to these...are they a full steel pad?

Not, definately not a full steel pad. The HPX is their high performance street pad, similar in performance to Bendix Ultimate for example, but without the dust as per your Super X.
The full specs on QFM's street pads can be found here:

And (apparently) without chewing out a set of rotors each time you change the pads.....
Correct! Compare the friction co-efficient of the QFM, and for each level of performance, its generally alot lower than most others, which is what you want for a road car. Race car can sometimes be a different story, but that's the price you pay for racing.

Super x on my car dont dust the wheels...No more than the road grime you get but it washes off when you wash the car every month or so.
The rotor is marked with radial marks but no deep gouges after 3 years and roughly 50k of use ..disc has some blue marks in it .On some occasions when the surface had a shiny brownish appearance the pad bite wasnt much good but it cleans up with use and now is excellent ...pad hasnt even half worn. Get into my vz with stock pads and you appreciate the difference the pads have made.

Its very interesting that QFM have a low coeficcient of friction. Coming from Bendix Ultimates these stopped so much better- I assumed it was the other way around. There you go, I'll stick to trying to reduce friction, instead of increasing it!
PM sent to GSLrallysport re: these pads. Methinks it's time for my SS to actually be able to stop when required.
are there any still avail?
I have an ex police VZ and thought it had these fitted but Im thinking otherwise, they dont seem to grip to my expectations. Only thing thats stopped me from swapping over to police spec is the dust, because its got VE SS-V rims they can be a pain to get and keep clean between the spokes.
My main concerns were brake dust and chewing discs but it sounds like these are minimal on both!

Yep, these are definately minimal on both of those counts!
They're currently on backorder, but I expect to have a dozen sets either late today, or tomorrow morning, so yep, still available!![]()

do you keep them in stock on a regular basis (ie usually readily availiable?)
I cant see the point in me replacing pads that have 10 000 kays on them at the moment, but I'd be definately interested sometime in the new year when I take the callipers off to spray paint![]()

Yep, I will try and keep these in as a permanent line, with a least half a dozen sets in stock, as I'm going to start to sell these in place of the DB1331.
Yep not worries mate. Worst case just let me know before hand and I'll make sure I throw a set aside, or else being a Gold Coast company there's not more than 2-3 weeks wait for production... none of this shipping from China rubbish!I cant see the point in me replacing pads that have 10 000 kays on them at the moment, but I'd be definately interested sometime in the new year when I take the callipers off to spray paint![]()

nah man thats cool, as long as your able to get them on a regular basis and its not a once only sort of thing
Can I get a price on both front and rear please? We might also be looking at throwing a set into the Adventra Cross 6 if it works well in your Cross 6 ute coz we use it to tow a 2 tonne boat and grippy brakes is always a bonus for those sudden stops![]()

Na definately a permenate line after the feedback we've had come pad. In the HPX it doesn't cost me any more to get DB1344 than DB1331, so why not!?
Anyone who's bought the HPX fronts, has just got normal (Super X) QFM's for the rear. If you specially wanted the same compound for the rear, they too would be $75, and a 3 week wait. There's really not much to gain by going the HPX rear. Can I get a price on both front and rear please? We might also be looking at throwing a set into the Adventra Cross 6
So basically, the Police Spec HPX fronts, and std QFM rears would be $110, plus $10 shipping Aus-wide (and should always be in stock), or Police spec HPX fronts, and DB1332 HPX rears, would be $150, plus allow 2-3 weeks.
Yep, we're pretty much in the same boat (no pun intendedif it works well in your Cross 6 ute coz we use it to tow a 2 tonne boat and grippy brakes is always a bonus for those sudden stops![]()
), the rally car and trailer is just under 2000kg, plus about half a tonne of tyres, fuel, tools etc in the ute itself. I had just normal DB1331 Lucas pads in the front, and have switched to the full face DB1344 HPX, and the initial bite is better than the Lucas due to the extra pad area, but both have about the same temperature handling, so I wouldn't say there's any performance advantage, over the Lucas, but the HPX is by far a much less dustier pad.
If you compare apples with apples, the Lucas (or even Bendix Ultimate for that matter) police spec DB1344 are about $150, so on that alone I'm just going to continue to use the HPX in ute. There's people who have now tired the HPX, and even coming from Police Spec Bendix Ultimate, reckon they're a step up, so at half the price, and half the dust, I reckon we're onto a winner with these!

hpx compund on the front and super x on the back. did the great ocean road run to and from warrnambool. just a tiny squeal every once in a while though, but these pads worked a treat.
when can i order another set?
I'm back at work now and there's half a dozen sets sitting next to my desk!![]()

just got mine today. have to put them in on the weekend
heres my ride, i know its not much but its mine

and heres my new project
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ml#post1104629
Hi,
sorry for the confusion ...
after a near 800km round trip this weekend its clear the Adventra needs pads and discs, but approaching 75 000 kays without a change is nothing to sneeze at!
Anyway I was telling dad about how your customers say many good things about these pads, and that you have it fitted to your Crewman Cross Trac for the purposes of towing.
Basically - how much for Front AND Rear pad and disc combo? what would you recommend?
If he's gonna go these QFM pads front then he'll want QFM rear as well, but what discs would you recomment? He's more concerned about the thing pulling up when towing the boat, and obviously we've had a good run with the genuine stuff so something that wont warp or wear too quickly
Thanks!

Front police spec pads to suit in HPX compound $75, and normal QFM rears (which are more than enough) are $35.
Really depends on how much he wants to spend, and how serious he is. Slotted rotors on the front will help with braking, but being a fairly low volume car, a pair of RDA front slotted rotors are $289. Just a new standard front rotor is $105 each.but what discs would you recomment?
Rear rotors are $33 each, or $175 for a pair of slotted.
The QFM are very easy on rotors given their performance, and you'll have no problems with those rotors. He's more concerned about the thing pulling up when towing the boat, and obviously we've had a good run with the genuine stuff so something that wont warp or wear too quickly
Cheers,
Greg
