    Default King Springs

    Hey guys,

I want to lower my VS Exec and have a few questions.

My car has a solid rear axel and is completly stock expept for short Monroe GT gas rear shocks (p.n. 15-0166).

I want to get supper low King Springs and was told by a guy at the local suspension place that they usually put super lows in the frount and ultra lows in the rear. What do people think about this???

Also I want to put new frount struts in at the same time (to save pulling them out twice). A friend of mine has some standart struts he can sell me cheap (Monroe Sensatrac) can some one please let me know if standard hight struts will work with super lows or should I get shorter ones???

Does anyone know how Sensatrac compare to GT Gas???

    Thanks

I can offer some information on your last question. I had Monroe Sensatrac all round in another VS and they were fantastic. They are designed not to be harsh under normal use but to stiffen up quickly when needed like under hard cornering. I got close to 200,000k's out of a set and they still felt good. While I haven't used Monroe GT Gas I have read many people say they are quite harsh.

On the other hand Monroe recently released GT 'sport' designed to be used with lowered springs. If you're going for super lows then you'll need dedicated lowered shocks like the Monroe GT sport.

KYB have also recently released a dedicated lowered shock for the commodore and I already know Greg from gslrallysport will recommend KYB over monroe.

superlows in the front and ultralows in the rear will usually get the car more level. I know in the IRS models you use SSL up front and SSSL out back.. not sure on live axle but I guess yes, supers and ultras are the go. Listen to him, he works at a suspension place

Shortened shocks all round are your best bet. I use Koni adjustables but you can use whatever you like

Yep, basically as people have said, with Commodores you generally go one lower in the back to get that 'level' look. $135 per pair of Kings front or rear.

As for front shocks, yep, I would definitely take a KYB over a Monroe, and KYB now have shortened front shocks to suit VR-VY, and these are $135 each.
