I did use it to have a look at my VIN number out of curiosity, but i'm sure it would come in handy when buying a car.

    For VT/VX, year, 1999 is X. Mine is a '99 and it was X and it goes 97' = v '98 = w, so '99 has to be x and '00 would pressumably be y and '01 would be z?

I think under model year for VR, you should put 'S' for 1995, I just checked my Vin and had 6H8VRK19HSL######
I got the build code of 95..

Does that make my VR a series 2? :S just out of curiosity

Also "T" is the date code for 1996 for the VS series....

and if you go to REVS Check, Car Check and Vehicle Checks | Car History and punch in your VIN it will atleast confirm you have a real VIN on your car... Tried it with mine and does appear to check from a database - a error was generated when I replaced the exec code for that of a Calais with same psn etc... You don't have to pay the $$ for it to tell you that you have a Holden, Commodore, 1996, 4Door sedan for example..
