I just thought I would share my experiences to help out anyone who may be considering this conversion.

Like many Ute owners, I wanted a true twin exhaust system that came out at opposite sides. Standard Commodores of course come out on the same side.

After a long search I finally found a Maloo exhaust, and expected it to bolt straight up – but it didn’t. The problem being, the Maloo tail pipes exit in different positions to stock. It couldn’t be used without major modifications to the tail pipes.

After having modified and fitting the Maloo exhaust, I started looking into the alternative of fitting a Monaro system to the Ute. The advantage being the Monaro shares the same rear exhaust exit positions as standard Commodores.

It is actually easier to fit a Monaro exhaust to a Ute than a Maloo exhaust. The Monaro fits straight up, with the exception of the shorter engine pipes, which are usually adapted by the muffler shop anyway - especially when using extractors.

Incidentally, trimming the plastic bumper for the second exit is a 5 minute job. On the Maloo the metal behind isn’t even removed, it has a dent in the tail pipe to accommodate it. However, bumping it up a touch with a hammer is recommended.
