Default Changing front struts on a vt/vx Commodore

First step: Jack your car up remember too put a brick behind
the back tyer then take front tyer off.

Second step: Place a jack so that you can lift the rotter up
to a height that is just enough and it is less stress on you.

Third step: Now it's time to remove the Strut. Remove the 2 nuts on top
and bottom of the rod.i found when You undo any of the nuts
the rod still turns so i put a justable spanner on the rod
were its flat to stop it from turning.

forth step: Take the sturt rod out easy way to do it
get somethig thats stong then place underneath tension rod on top
of the sway bar and lift up then strut rod will come out
(you will need a bit of strenght to do this because on
some car's they can be pricks to get off lol).

Fith step: Now it's time to get the new rod (the ones i got were thicker and they were
bent because of the design of the rod and it fit's in a bit better) to put the new rod in
just reverse the method you started with by lifting the sway bar place rod in the start to do the
nuts up dong forget the rod will turn so use an ajustable spanner to hold the rod
when its done up take the jack out from underneath the rotter put tyer on an take it
for a drive an feel the differnce in your steering.

Thanks for having a look if you have any questons just ask.
sorry if the pics were to big coz im still learning on how to use this site lol !!!

Just to stop confusion, the part you have replaced is NOT called the strut...

It is in-fact the sway bar link.

With the clunking noise, did you also get it just driving along in a straight line etc when you hit bumps etc?

My car is doing that and I know my front shocks etc are gone too, so I'm considering swapping out the shocks/springs and lowering the car slightly whilst I'm at it.

Thanks for the pics and posts.

When I changed my front struts (shocks) i found my sway bar link was bent so I changed that as well.

I was getting a clunking noise when driving in a straight line over bumps. A few mechanics said it was the engine bushes (or something like that)

Because changing the rear shocks and front struts was going to cost a fortune from a mechanic, I decided to tackle this one myself. Took me all day but got them all replaced. No more clunking noises now and also no more shuddering when braking.

The sway bar link in the vx commodore is a little different at the bottom but mostly the same as those VT pics.
