Default Charcoal Canister flushing and inspection HOW TO

    Hi guys,

Thought I would chuck this in the HOW TO section as it is a handy reference. This canister is for VL, VN. VR. VS and maybe more

Credit to "VS_Pete_1" for linking me to the above.

EDIT: I also noticed that a lot of people wanted to know where to relocate the charcoal canister in VN/VR/VS models. A good place is to hide it under the drivers side guard. It can be well hidden under the plastic and tidies up the engine bay that little bit more. May be a How To somewhere about this.

Hey mate, it should be coming up as an extract from a workshop manual in the first post.

I think the VT V6 had it underbody near the fuel tank. It is a square unit as opposed to the round one as pictured first post. V8 may be the same but unsure. Then again, that is off the top of my head and I may very well be wrong.

I also noticed people wanted to know where to relocate the charcoal canister in VN/VR/VS models. A good place is to hide it under the drivers side guard. It can be well hidden under the plastic and tidies up the engine bay that little bit more.

    Good simple writeup.

What's the rationale behind flushing the charcoal canister? Does it reduce emissions or are there other effects?
