VY VZ Front Storage Compartment Lid Repair

I just wanted to post how I fixed the lid that would not close on this bin as it seems a common fault. what I noticed was the lid would always lock with the bin removed and held sideways however when it was held the same way it fits into teh car the catch would not grab. what I did was to remove the small catch from the body and where it pivots on the body I put in a thin shim and problem is fixed.

By a shim I mean a thin bit of paper or similar which you cut to size and punch a small hole in it so it sits between the retaining arm and the compartment body at the point the arm pivots on the body. I used a glossy backing paper for a sticker. Other than that you can buy a new one from Holden from memory they are only around $20 to $30
